Finish nail gun
Finish nail gun
Have to say, this thing is soooo much better than drilling pilot holes and throwing drywall screws into the cab. Just tried these out on the otop build, things are going nicely thus far.

I'm home for spring break (Read: I have access to my table saw, good Router, Drill press, and all my other tools).
Dont even know the brand of it, but it seems to do the trick.

Re: Finish nail gun
It's also the greatest thing to install room carpet if yours will do 1/4" crown staples. I hate installing carpet, but staples make it fast and easy, and the carpet nap hides the installation. Also use staples on DR builds for the bent panels, as brads just tear through 1/4 and 1/8 inch plywood.
Re: Finish nail gun
I was highly considering building the dr 200, but instead opted for the omnitop, cause I I dont have a quick line on bendy ply, and I'm only going to be home with my tools or a short period, which may have kept me from finishing the tough DRs.
Perhaps the next bfm system I build, If I decide to part ways with this one will be a DR/Titan combo, rather than a T30/OTop12 combo. Only time, and money will tell I guess.

I don't either, that's why I got to call around and do some leg work.sine143 wrote:I was highly considering building the dr 200, but instead opted for the omnitop, cause I I dont have a quick line on bendy ply,

I only used 1/4"x3/4" staples on the bent parts of my DR's. It took a couple of shots to get the pressure set correctly...but after that it worked like a champ.

Re: Finish nail gun
since baltic birch can not be found here I chnged to woodworking plywood....... also I preffer staples than brads for strenght (so the glue holds better) To hide the staples I first fill the hole with regular woodworking glue (gently with my finger) then sand. the glue fills the hole the sand dust does the finish pretty neat great for those clear barnished table tubas of the photos
There is a very thin line between fail and success. It is very thin so, why are you scared???

I want to carpet my T39, they are now naked but I really hate the yellow contact glue, if I do the carpeting with a stapler Can I avoid the glue? or I going to need some?Bill Fitzmaurice wrote:It's also the greatest thing to install room carpet if yours will do 1/4" crown staples. Re: Finish nail gun
If you only staple the carpet, I don't think you'll like the results. It will stretch over time and not stay tight. It will also rip and tear more easily than if it is glued down. Glue is messy, but will provide a better result. Do you have access to spray-on adhesive like 3M Super77?djwoo wrote:I want to carpet my T39, they are now naked but I really hate the yellow contact glue, if I do the carpeting with a stapler Can I avoid the glue? or I going to need some?Bill Fitzmaurice wrote:It's also the greatest thing to install room carpet if yours will do 1/4" crown staples. Yes, but at $ 22.00 usd per can it's pricey for me. I make with the contact but only in certain parts (corners, center) and staples in the restDavid Carter wrote:If you only staple the carpet, I don't think you'll like the results. Re: Finish nail gun
The 1/4" size of a crown staple fits to the carpet. Staples are used for installing carpets. You will just pull the trigger to staple the carpet.Bill Fitzmaurice wrote:It's also the greatest thing to install room carpet if yours will do 1/4" crown staples. I said room carpet, not cab covering.David Carter wrote:If you only staple the carpet, I don't think you'll like the results. It will stretch over time and not stay tight.
