I buy all my BB from Woodcraft in Columbus. It is somewhere around $40 for a 5x5 sheet.

If you're willing to drive 2 1/2 hours one way, you can get it for $22/sheet in toledo. Toledo Plywood. Not worth it for a box or two - but if you're going to do several boxes, or a few of the larger ones, it's definitely worth looking into.

I found another carpentry wood supplier:
They stock 1/2" Russian birch, & 1/2" Finland birch, and Baltic Birch

Architectural Carpentry Materials, Inc.
6025 Denton Dr
Dallas, TX 75235
(214) 350-1341

I'm going to give both places a call.

Ok I called these ACM guys, and they have the best price so far. Baltic Birch $26 /ea 5'x5' sheet. I guess Woodcraft is out of the question. I can breath easily now, $50/ea sheet at Woodcraft isn't easy to swallow for a low budget diy project.

I think the big benefit of living in a larger metropolitan area is that suppliers are everywhere.

I found another supplier for Baltic Birch less than 10 miles from my house; I'm definitely buying from these guys.

Here's the info for anyone in the search.
Baltic Birch 1/2" 5'x5' sheet - $24/ea; they also locate in Austin, and Houston

That's one I hadn't seen before as I looked and looked in the Dallas area for BB before I searched anywhere else. The hard thing really wasn't finding it as almost all of the lumber yards did have but they probably bought from Central Hardwoods and just jacked up the price to around $40!

Oh, and at central hardwoods, they do not rip the panels, but I'm pretty sure if you needed them rip, they could have them ripped at some other lumber yard or something. So if the one at GP rips them, then the price is really nice, too.

Thanks for the info.

I learn about Brazos Forest from a woodworking store two minutes from my house, Rockler. Rockler only carries BB max size of 24"; so they referred me to the Brazos Forest. I search high and low, Brazos didn't come up. I guess these guys provide supplies to other smaller retailers.

I'm going to get the wood from Brazos Forest, saving $2 for 45-minutes drive isn't worth the saving LOL...

Thanks again!
