I'm only interested in the power amp capabilities - not the DSP, as I already have those covered. So, other than DSP is there any reason why you think they wouldn't be good for live sound?

Why dish out the extra cash for the drivecore version then? The new xls series is available in non dsp versions. This is why I was somewhat confused (thread title) and commented on the dsp capabilities.

Drivecore is part of the XLS family. Crown keeps it confusing by not listing the Drivecore when you look up XLS. But if you go to the Drivecore section, it is listed as XLS Drivecore....which makes me think they will be discontinuing the original XLS...

I paid $275 for the 1000 and $375 for the 1500.

The 1000 and the XLS 602 match up (with a slight edge to the 602) pretty well and are close to the same price.

The 1500 falls between the 602 and 802, but I'd have to get the 802 for my needs. 802 and 1500 are almost same price.

Bottom line difference is the 602 and 802 combo weigh in at 58 pounds. The two Drivecores are less than 18 pounds.

I hope they work as well as the 602 and 802 with a huge weight savings. I was just wondering if anyone had actually used 'em a live sound environment. Since the original post, I pulled the trigger - so I'm getting 'em one way or another.

OOPS. I'm sorry. I thought the NEW xls series was also available as sans dsp. that would be the new Peavey ipr series, which is available in dsp and non dsp. So sorry.

No problem....It made me go out and check to make sure I hadn't missed anything. While I'm not concerned about the DSP - I will use it as one more hurdle to jump over before frying the speakers.
