Anyway's I have to say, i'm really happy with this current set up, have had it out a couple times now, and really like the way it sounds and have had a lot of positive feedback about it. The dr's absolutely kick in the low mids and are a great match for the labs at 80hz, I cross them at 250hz over to the Omni's which play really loud and clear not having to deal with the low mids, they have a really nice crispness to the top end and a nice warm tone in the vocals/upper midrange. I will say that this set up is particularly good for electronic dance music as there is a lot of low midbass and I think it works well to have dedicated low mids/high mids for this type of music. For other types of music you perhaps don't really want to have dedicated low mids, or in the case of a concert/stadium set up, where you want narrow dispersion, would use the dr300 as intended with a good compression driver. I have left the comp drivers in mine but have just blocked off the front as you can see in the foto.
My rack set up is a deq2496 for eq and compression.
