Where did you end up repositioning the crossover?

Good question! I'm not sure where I put it. I'll have to take a cover off and take some pictures.

WOW!! What a GREAT thread! It was crazy informative and answered a questioned I had. I was going to build 2 DR-250's, but I believe I like the idea of the four 200's instead.

Man, I really enjoyed this. Well done and thank you so much.

Glad it was helpful, and good luck with the build. Make sure you share your journey also. :)

I really like the idea of the tin/metal back halves. Does it affect sound in any way?

I don't believe it has a significant impact. Of course, I've never built DR200's without the metal in order to compare. But regardless of whether they're the same or not, they sound great!

soundinmotiondj was actually the one that started doing the metal thing. I'm pretty sure he hasn't had any problems with them. Might want to PM him just to verify.

@BoostFav, regardless of the origins, Stan (SoundInMotionDJ) does indeed have a herd of DR200's with the metal butt cheeks, and he uses his a lot more than I use mine, so he will definitely be able to offer an opinion on how they sound.

well, I guess that does give itself away being tin halves are non-issue, since you both have deployed the herd. :-) I'm very tempted on switching from ot12 and build the dr200, after digesting the plans like 10x it doesn't look too hard IMO

Just a short question, it's ok to add poly-fil inside this area, good to go?

I have 10 metal butt'd DR200's. They sound fine to me. No vibration. No buzzing. Clear. Articulate. Stupid loud.

But, I have not heard a wooden butt'd DR200 to compare against.
