Corners for OT12's
I ordered corners from Leland for my OT12's and all along I figured I wouldn't care much if they overhang where the access cover and grille are but now that I get down to it- I don't like it.
I was looking at these- http://www.speakerhardware.com/penn_elc ... wc1567.php
Would these NOT hang over the access cover/grille area? I'm using 1/2" ply w/ a 3/8" round.

Re: Corners for OT12's
That's what I'm using on all of my four jacks now. I actually tried one of the bigger ones and it was HORRIBLE. But with the little ones, I can open the back(although I do have to wiggle it some), and they look very cool since the front edges stop basically where the 1/2" stops. I too used 3/8" roundover. Now my cabs actually look like cabs and not some black wooden boxesdjtecthreat wrote:I ordered corners from Leland for my OT12's and all along I figured I wouldn't care much if they overhang where the access cover and grille are but now that I get down to it- I don't like it.

Re: Corners for OT12's
That corner is now the default corner for all tops. It fits well and is proportionate to the cab size. The bigger 1405 is what's in all the subs.
I personally prefer the metal corners, but if you're stacking cabs the 1567 is what you want.

If it's too loud, you're even older than me! Like me.

Re: Corners for OT12's
I prefer the look without corners, but I used arauco on the OTs and I'm concerned about the corners.
I'm also not stacking corner to corner, I put feet on them. Any pics of a cab with metal corners? How do they fit on the 1/2"?

Re: Corners for OT12's
I don't have my DR250's anymore, so I can't take additional pics, but here's a leftover pic of a DR250 with metal corners and rubber feet. Sorry it's not that clear. This cab had a 1/2" roundover, and the corner fit just fine.djtecthreat wrote:Any pics of a cab with metal corners? How do they fit on the 1/2"?

David, What are you using for screws? Button head wood screws?

Re: Corners for OT12's
He's probably using black 1/2" truss-head screws. PE sells them and Leland may also.
I didn't like the way screw heads scratched things around them so I've switched to pop pivets for metal corners. It's a cleaner look, at least to my eyes. Unfortunately, the local big box store does not carry them in black so I have to use aluminum.

Re: Corners for OT12's
I just threw the corners on after mounting the back. I've opened my Fender 15" cabinets once in 8 years.

Re: Corners for OT12's
I've already replied in a private email, but for the benefit of others, I'm pretty sure I used #6 x 1/2" pan head screws and painted the heads black. If I had to do it over again, I'd get black screws from Leland. I also like the pop rivets idea. You could paint those black also.djtecthreat wrote:David, What are you using for screws? Re: Corners for OT12's
It's not so much about functionality as it is about looks. I like things looking symmetrical, maybe i'm crazy.bzb wrote:I just threw the corners on after mounting the back. I've opened my Fender 15" cabinets once in 8 years.
