What does 10" drill press mean?

#1 Post by phil »

I thought it meant 10" of clearance. I bought one and there's about 7" without the bit. With the bit, I can't fit my DR assembly in it to drill out the speaker mount holes. Grrr.

10" from the center of the chuck to the post.

That's what I get when I don't do the least amount of research before a purchase :(. I got a little frustrated initially, but I can make it work, just have to make sure the driver hole punches are in a certain spot.

A 10" drill press just means there's 10 inches from the support post to the center of the drill chuck. It doesn't mean anything about the depth it can drill.
