When you scale a horn down you get less low end. IMO the DR200 is a small as you should go with the DR design.oilcanracer wrote:do they lose the bottom hz's or is the spl the same just lower volume?

wow i didn't realize how small they are. its like building doll furniture. maybe good practice to learn how to build different models, but not invest in plywood costs.WB wrote:13.5"H, 14"W, 13.5"Ddave d wrote: How much smaller are they?
how about a super mini subwoofer.
Re: Mostly Melded Array Review HT-DR165
You need a long horn and mouth surface area to go low, there's no way around that. T18 and AT is about as small as it goes. If you want to go smaller, build direct radiators, ported or bandpass.

Re: Mostly Melded Array Review HT-DR165
These Dr165 & 150 have always been a puzzle to me. All this time I was thinking it was the amount of 1060's that were being used. Are there plans forthese speakers? I wouls love to pull the trigger and have a pair of 200 and 165 or 150's in my theater. The 200's would be too big (physical size) for the rear, the 165's would work. I see above Bill is against anything smaller then the 200's but I think they would do a good job as rears?

GeSo,
They are okay for rears but like Bill said they have no bottom end. I took the DR200 measurements times .81 to get the DR165 size. If there is any way to squeeze the DR200 in, it would be much better.

IMO the DR200 is as small as that design should be built. If you need a smaller cab make it a direct radiator, you'll get a better result. If you don't need a cab as large as the DR200 you don't need a DR.GeSo wrote: for the rear, the 165's would work.
