Harley's Piezo Brace Jig 2.0 Release

#1 Post by gilscales »

Took Harley's advice about the Piezo Brace Jig and modified it a little
pic.1 These are my version of Harley's Piezo Brace Jigs with stops for both the depth and the spread
pic.2 After drawing a center line I transfer the location on top to see where the brads go
pic.3 The center of the cab has a line to line up with the center of the jig then clamp it
pic.4 Once the jigs are in place just pull the braces up tight and nail from the top with 1" brads
pic.5 I used the yellow wood glue for these as the pl would be way to messy for this, I was liberal with the glue then 4 brads or so into the top and remove jigs and wipe off excess with a damp towel, worked great and I am sure I will use these jigs for a long time!

A winner. A waste of time for one or two cabs, it will take longer to make the brace than is justified, but if you're making a fleet it will save a lot of time.

Took me 15 min. to make the jigs from scrap material, I figure it will save me that or more on a couple of pairs of jacks, the main reason for me was for accuracy and ease of installation not really speed.

That friggin compound angle on DR's always gives me fits. Always.
If it's too loud, you're even older than me! Like me.

Like hell it is... I spent a lot of time wrestling with the damn legs for the tweeters. Wish I had thought of this. This summer when I redo my cabs I'm going this route.
