Other type of finish?
I'm just about done with a pair of Jack15's and would like to finish them. I priced the Duratex @ $55/gal + $15 shipping + tax BC company is in my state. Any other type of external paint I can finish them with?

Re: Jack Crossover Assistance
Well I went out and purchased 1/8 inch thick nylon bushings mounted the Crossover and got no high frequency sound. Uuuugh! Fooled with the connection until I figured out the 4 ohm resistor was not knocked loose of the trace. Seems I didn't cut the lead short enough and when fastening it to the botto...

Re: Jack Crossover Assistance
Is it normal to mount the crossover to the walls or bottom directly? Should this be mounted with some sort of spacer at the mounting screw areas?
I attempted this in a cabinet and found the HF circuit cutting out until I removed a mounting screw near the HF side.

Re: Jack Crossover Assistance
Well I pulled the woofer out of the cabinet and wired to crossover with a tweeter. Connected them to receiver with cellphone connected to it and ran a 500 Hz to 4 kHz frequency sweep and listened to the sound move from woofer to tweeter as frequency rose. YES!

Re: Jack Crossover Assistance
Answered one question. Found an Android app called Frequency Sound Generator that is free right from the Google Play Store. I have a bluetooth receiver and wired connection through my receiver's second zone amplified section that I can use. Going to sweep across the crossover point from 500-3kHz and...

Re: Jack Crossover Assistance
I will try to tie down the coils as they are heavy and the resistors because they will heat up and sit precariously high and on top of each other. I originally meant to test the operation of the frequency crossover to cut over from HF to LF. Is there a free audio frequency generator program I can us...

Re: Jack Crossover Assistance
Well I did it. I setup the components to the unused trace then connected the resistors to their perspective connections. Had to stack the 30 ohm resistor atop the 4 ohm as I didn't see any other way it could be done. Setup the coil on it's side and perpendicular and hot glued everything down to the ...

Re: Jack Crossover Assistance
Tom that's exactly what I was getting at with the new layout of the Xover.
Grant & Hackomatic thanks for the tip on the inductor position and it's effects to each other. Learned a lot from you guys.
I'll show you the final setup when I'm done tweaking the layout.

Re: Jack Crossover Assistance
Ok guys I need to know if I'm on the right track here. I decided to use the trace in the middle of the board to connect the HF Cap, Coil, 4ohm resistor to the T+ trace only and the 30ohm resistor over the 4ohm resistor from the middle trace also to the common trace. I believe that will satisfy the c...

Re: Jack Crossover Assistance
Also there still some questions as to how the positive and netative buses where terminated to connect the in and out connections even if there are a few ways that could be done. If you zoom in close enough on the Sketch-up, the positive (+) side is delineated by a red wire and the negative (-) by t...

Re: Jack Crossover Assistance
Bill, Could you make a note of that in the plans? I didn't think the crossovers would come in with such detail upon zooming into them. Also there still some questions as to how the positive and netative buses where terminated to connect the in and out connections even if there are a few ways that co...

Re: Jack Crossover Assistance
I asked for an image of crossover on plywood board to get an idea how to make one and got no response so I went with a pre-built board.
Otherwise I've found lots of help here with almost all my questions.

Jack Crossover Assistance
I purchased the crossover parts from Leland over at SpeakerHardware.com but bought the 2 way crossover board from Parts-Express.com. I inserted the parts on the boards except for the resistors where I'm not sure where to place them. I believe the 2 inch 30 ohm resister between the common and T+ but ...

Re: Jack 15 Hat Placement
Thanks Bill. I'm going to check the balance after I install the driver, handles, back plate to see where on the bottom the hat would need to be placed and whether it will effect the driver.

Jack 15 Hat Placement
I'm 80% through a Jack 15 build. I am using a Delta Pro 15A driver which is 19.7 pounds. I believe that where the current Hat placement is would pull the stands balance toward the back. Will there be any effect to the sound of the speaker if the hat is backed up behind the port into the rear chamber...
