Re: Great Combo - BFM DSR280s & SAC
The original Tuba 24. Just one per side for discrete bass drum & tympani, delayed to the front string mics for coherence. I use 2 per side or couple all 4 under the front of a festival stage, usually. Love the power they add to the mix. 1812 Overture cannons last year were insane!

Great Combo - BFM DSR280s & SAC
Great summer gigs with DSR280, origtinal Tuba 24 subs and the Software Audio Console. The clarity is so good, the splash pad and children 100 yds away were amplified perfectly. Next time, I'll find the breaker to the pumps.... New Crown xls lightweight amps are the perfect match for these cabinets. ...

Re: DR280's on Painter Scaffolding
Just a 12" long 2X4, shoved far enough under the box to level the front, and the same for the top box. I suppose I could paint them black, or use some black gaff on them, call them Audiologs, and sell them on ebay! The chevron corners and the straps lock them in place. Keep it simple!

Re: DR280's on Painter Scaffolding
They are from Lowes. Werner brand. If you want orange ones, Home Depot sells those! I used to stack my Mackie 1530s on these, and it didn't feel as stable. Another foot would be nice, but then you'd probably need some sort of outriggers for stability. I'm a very happy camper with the DR280s on top o...

Re: DR280's on Painter Scaffolding
I was actually surprised at the stability of this setup. I stacked at the trailer and rolled the stage left speaker tower across the bumpy grass. I'm considering some sort of bolt or better yet, a strap arrangement to the subs for additional stability. By standing on the amp rack or one of the subs,...

DR280's on Painter Scaffolding
2 New pairs of DR280 are finally finished and rolled out this week for an outdoor Spokane Jr Symphony Concert. Let me tell you, these boxes arrayed like this throw a long way, intelligible 2 football fields back. These 4 boxes have only 11 piezos per box, and that is plenty! I used metal grills and ...

Re: Source of Large Metal Grills
Thanks all for the suggestions guys. Sounds like there's no simple answer but maybe get something custom made. Probably not too cheap though. Darn, the PE stuff looks perfect except for the last 8 inches. :wall: I'll take another look at Lowes and HD, Bill, except that I think the stuff they had wa...

US Foam Grill Source
My post a little earlier on has this link. Scroll to the bottom of the page once you get there. About $37 total for 4 grills for my DR280. Several different thicknesses. They also carry a bunch of cool foam bass trap corners and treatments for your home studio. I've had great luck with these guys. O...

Tuba24s in an Outdoor Stadium
I recently had the opportunity to use my 4 new Tuba24s to play music at the opening ceremonies of a national junior disabled sporting event. I placed 2 of them in the V configuration on each 40 yard lines facing the grandstand. I evenly spaced my 6 EV SX300s along the same side-line tilted up to eve...

Best Source for Speakon/Combo 1/4" Jacks
$1.74 and I got them next day standard shipping. The post about knocking the back out with a phillips screwdriver makes them easy to solder, but no longer airtight. This is not an issue on the back plate of a DR cabinet. http://www.westlake-electronic.com/store/search/1/detail/1/item_no/NEU10562/ind...

Excellent Speaker Grill Foam Source
At $6 to $10 per speaker depending on thickness, this is a great source for speaker grill foam. Be sure and scroll to the bottom of the page to find the speaker foam. I was able to get 4 grills for my DR280 from one piece of 72" X 48" foam for a total of $37. (Keep clicking on the link- it...

Inexpensive Flying Hardware
Here is a great place and pricing for flying hardware. These may not be as heavy duty as the PE versions, but the weights that we are using with DR cabinets don't call for that much over-kill, either. These are similar to what Nimrod Webber installed in his cabinets, without having to do all the cut...
