Re: DR250 Three and Four
Where did you get the backer plates and outer link plates? That's EXACTLY what I want to do with my DR200s...I don't think I can retrofit the backer plates once they're built, but I'd like to use the metal plates on the outside to link them. Oh, and yeah...the grilles. I looked on Leland's site but ...

Re: dr 200
Piezos won't care much, but ANY other HF component needs protection against LF...not just ribbons. Scott Yeah, that's what an active crossover does. Ribbons must be run with a passive filter, "ANY other HF component" doesn't, as active will work fine. It's also fairly common to leave at l...

Re: dr 200
Well, for piezos you at least need to have resistors on their to make sure the impedance at high frequencies doesn't drop too low...that can cause some power amps to go into oscillation and burn out. Not too common any more, but worth protecting against. It's also fairly common to leave at least a c...

Re: dr 200
You're biamping with piezos? What crossover freq/slope? What passive components are you using (in other words, does the passive crossover get bypassed when you biamp?)J_Dunavin wrote:I'm bi amping my four pack and love it. I'm interested to see how you'll like all six of yours.

Re: dr 200
Note: most of the time I'll be using either one or two pair of the ones pictured here...the third pair is strictly for outdoor gigs where I need more distance and volume than I can cover otherwise.
Or to rent out for multiple systems.

Re: dr 200
Four to go along with the two I already have. I'm a happy camper...can't wait to get 'em and make some noise! The extra boards sitting loose inside the cabinets are pre-cut baffles for me to mount Dayton PT2C-8 ribbons in. The NL4s in the back are already wired for biamp...just have to cut the holes...

Nice routing on the recessed handles.
Looks "Pro".
Build all done except for paint+duratex and assembly of speakers+hardware?

Re: Interesting build request by a 5 year old!
If you don't need the volume, you don't need one of Bill's cabinets, I'd say. There's tons of sample (and simpler) designs over on Parts Express that might be more suitable for what you're trying to do. One thing to be aware of is that a "karaoke" rig has the potential to be a real feedbac...

Re: Interesting build request by a 5 year old!
I think a five-year-old doesn't need to be exposed to the kind of volume a Jack or W10 can generate on any kind of regular basis, unless you own stock in a hearing-aid company...

Re: Wedgehorn 10 Review
FWIW, I've always loved the SM15V (and IV, and III before them), but they are big, they are heavy, and they are awkward. They get louder than h*ll and cut through a mix, though, for as (relatively) inexpensive as they are. I have like seven of them at this point...they're not perfect, but by the tim...

Re: Used Digital Mixers for Live Sound
My understanding so far (for an announced but unreleased product) is that no, they can't be cascaded. You could use multiple units as interfaces, probably, but the mixer function is actually baked into the firmware...you can add an ADAT unit to the box for an additional 8 ins and outs, for a total o...

Re: Used Digital Mixers for Live Sound
The Presonus AudioBox 1818 VSL is coming out in a month or so, and with a laptop with a USB interface, may get you the best of both worlds. Street price (read as "MAP" - Minimum Advertised Price) is supposed to be $499. Basically the same feature set as the StudioLive 16.0.2, controlled by...

Cool, I'll read up on it...not a principle I've been familiar with up until now. Learning is good.

Ah, right on...that makes sense...driver-driver distance > wavelength, phase cancellation...gotcha.
