Whatever you say, dude. Your original post (doesn't) speak(s) for itself.88h88 wrote:I dunno man, I was obviously referring to MDF with a veneer over the top in that post, not quite sure how you missed that bit seeing how it was a good half of the words I typed in.

Re: $35,000 speakers ??
Anyone know how to veneer a DR250? Build them out of the top end Birch and put a nice stain on them. Veneer is for chumps, true audiophiles want speakers built out of actual wood and not compressed sawdust and glue. Sounds better. 8) Hate to break it to you but unless you are building out of ...

Re: MDF for braces?
I had the opportunity to go to Lowes finally today. I found this and I'm wondering if I should I bite the bullet and buy this for making spacers: http://www.lowes.com/pd_12227-99899-NA_0__?Ntt=12227&UserSearch=12227&productId=3602856&rpp=32 It appeared to have 4 equal ply's, and free of...

Re: Ramping up for THT build.
Not necessarily. You can take my idea one step further as follows: 1. Make box about 1 1/2 inches taller than what you originally plan for. Size width and depth of box so that plate will slip just inside box. (Bear with me.) 2. Glue cover on top. You should now have a box with no bottom. 3. Cut aro...

Re: Ramping up for THT build.
You can be as fancy or as basic as you like. My boxes were each made out of four pieces of leftover 1/2" BB sized so that the plate can be dropped in and screwed down. Make two opposing pieces longer to allow for some airflow from the bottom. (I'm not sure it helped, but it was easy to do and ...

Re: Ramping up for THT build.
I think I've decided to go with the BASH 300. Seems a lot of people here like this amp. I know I need to build an enclosure for it. I could start a new thread, but I'd like to keep everything here. Any tips? Pics? I am planning on running the leads to a pair of 5 way binding posts. You can be as fa...

Re: Using Loctite PL Premium
That's great. Thanks guys. :hyper: Maybe others could add hints that they have found useful when using PL - for budding builders like me. After hearing some of the horror stories regarding the glue, this has certainly given me more confidence. Unless you have seen how much PL expands, chances are y...
