Re: THTLP - best width for maximum performance?
So stacking them? I would think the non-LP would work better for that?

Re: Where to cross these speakers over?
Gotcha. So that would be 12 speakers 3 and 4, that would put us right at 6 ohms. I didn't know about padding, but that is good to know I can tame those down a bit if necessary. Thank you for the feedback.

Re: Where to cross these speakers over?
Short answer, I don't know, but I believe it's per watt. I'm basing my math off this post: https://billfitzmaurice.info/forum/viewtopic.php?p=202944#p202944 and this post: https://billfitzmaurice.info/forum/viewtopic.php?p=232529#p232529 that is using the Apex Jr tweeters as well (don't have much el...

Re: Where to cross these speakers over?
Gotcha, so I gather there isn't a way to check all the boxes perfectly with this speaker combo? Can't have 80%+ line height, close to same sensitivity and proper ohm rating (8-12ish?) So if I had to check the correct boxes, 80% line height and proper ohm rating are more important than close to the s...

Re: Where to cross these speakers over?
I don't think 8 tweeters would be tall enough at 2" - 3" spacing to get anywhere near 80% of the line height of the base line. I could wire 12 tweeters as 6 sets of 2 and get the same sensitivity, but it would be 2.67 ohms. Is that going to be a problem for the receiver? I don't know how t...

Re: Where to cross these speakers over?
You responded while I was typing out the math. Does my logic seem right as far as the number of tweeters? I remember there is a ratio of tweeter line to woofer line in length, but I don't remember what it is.
EDIT: OK, looks like the tweeter line should be no less than 80% of the woofer line.

Re: Where to cross these speakers over?
Thank you for the feedback. I guess I should clarify, these were both speakers that were determined to be acceptable for use on the SLA/TLAH's nearly 9 years ago (yeah, I'm a slacker)....I'm just trying to piece together information to get the correct # of speakers and the crossover. Thank you all f...

Re: Where to cross these speakers over?
Looks like they were tweeters from Apex Jr from DIY audio (had to do some digging). Looks like the link to the frequency graph is no longer around.....is it possible to still figure out how to use this combination?

Where to cross these speakers over?
Finally getting around to hopefully maybe building my speakers. I purchased a bunch of Sony closeout drivers back in 2011 (dang, where did the past 9 years go?) along with a bunch of tweeters to build some TLAH's. Fortunately, the specs are still available for the Sony's (https://www.parts-express.c...

Re: Building a dedicated HT room
That makes sense. I will probably just have to run wire or at least conduit to multiple semi-educated and desirable locations, since the room will have to be essentially completed before really knowing where the subs will land.

Re: Building a dedicated HT room
Yes, I will be DIYing the screen as well. I am not 100 percent locked in at 24, it just has to be a somewhat reasonable distance from the seats. I know there needs to be a decent amount of space from the walls for the sub to breathe, and I don’t want the port to be directly behind the screen and cre...

Re: Building a dedicated HT room
Cool. Thank you for the feedback. I might do a TLAH for all 3, just for consistency, if there’s no downside. Any thoughts on triangle vs rectangle for the mains? Any advantage? The rectangle is certainly easier to build, but the triangle has the natural angle towards the listening position.

Re: Building a dedicated HT room
So at what point in the build is it recommended to do the crawl? Right when the Sheetrock goes up? Will that give an accurate feel for how the room will perform when complete? Or does it need to be performed at the end when carpet and things are in? Regarding the center, I have heard doing identical...

Building a dedicated HT room
I've just started the designs for my dedicated HT. Plan is to do 3 TLAH's for the LCR and SLA's for the surrounds. I have the speakers already, purchased years ago on a closeout deal and never used them. Is it probably going to be best to do the triangle version for the LR mains and the rectangle fo...

Re: THTLP - best width for maximum performance?
I have heard of that, but thought it was more applicable after the room was complete. I am sure it’s difficult to predict perfectly during construction, since there are so many variables. I am still early on and have some options, so will be figuring lots of things out.
