Re: PA system for grand-daughter
Yamaha or Peavey are most predictable and likely available. Were you in North America, I might suggest Yorkville Sound stuff which has real reliable gear that can be beat upon and still function. Yes, you can get something that might sound better than Peavey, but you will be hard pressed to find som...

Re: flying safer than ground stacking?
Major touring acts who are flying the PA get such a discount on their tour insurance they always want one or more certified bonded riggers. I did see a flown cab take a dive to a stage once. Guy on the ground it came close to probably went home shortly thereafter, if only to change underwear. I was ...

I too am talking about laminate after the fact or real nice quality plywood with a substantial laminate in it of "pretty wood". There are examples in the forum of people turning things like table tubas into very nice furniture.

Re: Is 1/2" Arauco ply okay for subwoofer cabinets?
If it is for home theater use, that would suggest visual appeal might play more in your decision. Rock and roll club use you care about sound and how much it weighs if you have to be your own roadie. If it is home theater I would go with BB or some sort of deal with a pretty veneer or laminate on th...

+1 for Peavey. Usually very good price point and reliable. I also own a PLX2 1804 I use for a bass rig. Nothing succeeds like excess.

Re: Sourcing Drivers outside the US
You could craft a cab that would hold and "use" all the components. It would be more as you would actually have to have something that could work even if it sounded like poo.

Re: Anyone tried multi-axis CNC to cut panels
As I expected. Wonderful thing if you had 5 axis and even could do all the angles, but it is so expensive without major build volumes or I want it yesterday drivers that it just is not done.

Anyone tried multi-axis CNC to cut panels
Seems like using tactical nuke to kill an ant, but as a former manufacturing engineer dealing with 5 axis machines all the cuts I have seen to do the cabs ought to be executable. Seems the real driver would be you either would have to have such a machine hanging around with free time or you would ha...

Re: My diy H/T Nut alternative
Aluminum or brass bar stock and a Bridgeport clone for small scale production. A little NC 3 axis mill for cranking out a bunch of them. Sort of overkill, but overkill and margin is a good thing.

Re: ColdAmp modules
I think Brave Combo played one of the Sokol halls in Cedar Rapids. Crown XTi I presume does crossover for subs or whatever and will do an adjustable highpass to keep your subs safe? There is appeal in going with something that has been in production a while like the Crown. Interesting Peavey price p...

Re: ColdAmp modules
The DSP version has all sorts of features which would be nice. If one has the appropriate highpass to protect your subs already and crossing over at 100 Hz is not objectionable it might be a bit of inexpensive power. I have heard real heated debate regarding class D amps for low end, bass rigs in pa...

Re: ColdAmp modules
There are some class D amps available here in United States. Peavey's IPR series ought to bring class D to the masses. $299 street price for 800 per channel into 2 ohms plus built in 100Hz corner frequency high pass or low pass built in is the smallest. Lot of times you see power amps of this class ...

Re: Is Linex or Rhino Linings a disaster?
I've got several Linex places close and they are advertising in such a way to indicate they will spray whatever. Obviously a "Show me the money!" deal, but I've had cabs sprayed with their stuff and it looks outstanding. It does I guess take away some from the cost point, but then you will...
