Re: SAC where we at?

Brent..I stand corrected...You are right. Serves me right for mutlitasking while trying to answer questions! It is in the RME TotalMix software that you can get higher channel count. For what it's worth...my SAC rig uses an RME Raydat card and 4 behringer ADA 8000 for a 32 channel input count...

Re: SAC where we at?

No...SAC will accomodate a 72 input or higher count. You are limited only by the inputs of your sound card, and the amount of $$$ in your wallet. If you get into MADI and such you can have a very high channel count,

Re: SAC where we at?

Gregory....there IS a learning curve with SAC. It is not a "Plugin-and-Play " type of setup. Go with a Presonus Studio Live if you want more of that type of experience. However...the learning curve is worth it! I am having to mix a couple of shows on a bands StudioLive in a few weeks. It's...

Question For you about the Sub placement on the back wall like that....How do you Time align the Sub to the front stacks? You have one front stack 4 times the distance away from the other, as they relate to the Sub. Do you just align the one stack and live with the phase cancellation around the cros...

Re: Hamilton, Ontario Sunday, Aug 8 - The Big Rig is unveile

The whole discussion of rigging for the BFM speakers is a point of extreme frustration for me. On one hand....we're told that the BFM systems will sound better and louder the more boxes we stack up. On the other hand , we are warned not to trust stacking them up as they may fall over and injure folk...

Could you elaborate on the Scaffolding for the PA? I like the look of that setup and have spent considerable time trying to figure out a small footprint system such as you have there. Plans, details etc. Thanks....

Re: Really basic EQ question

Bypass the Driverack PA and get the Driverack 260. You'll be glad you did. If Budget was the main consideration...go with the Behringer DCX2496. I installed one in a Church, replacing my Driverack 260 and it has performed fantastic. i was supprised because i've not had great luck with any other Behr...

Re: Plugins crossover for sac hep!!

My current SAC setup uses a Raydat soundcard for 32 in and out thru 4 ADA8000 pre-amps. Seconding all that Brent has said and quaizyrabbit... I have yet to run into a routing problem that I could not make work with SAC. Sound quality, clarity....I would dread going back to any other digital or analo...

Re: Cabling it all up

I'd go balanced everywhere I could. Since ditching a lot of my older unblanced gear / processors etc. , my PA's and monitor systems are dead quiet. I'm even considering switching to quad-core cabling to take it that one step further.

Re: 1/3 Octave EQ vs Parametric EQ

I prefer Parametric for Room Equalization (I know we're not supposed to use that term... ), Speaker compensation etc. and use the the Graphic for Feedback control. I use SAC as my mixing system so I have the luxury of using either. Using a parametric allows me to cover a wider frequency rang...

Re: Boundary's and measuring Speakers: What about this....

Bill: The more I learn....It seems as if your horn loaded/ Designed speakers systems really do eliminate a lot of the problems direct radiating speakers have to contend with, in terms of acoustical physics, room coupling, lobes, nulls etc. Our culture today doesn't want to know about it unless it's ...

Re: Boundary's and measuring Speakers: What about this....

Thanks for commenting on this Bill. Given the variables that affect the frequency response.....what would you recommend for establishing a baseline response...how would you advise me to get the measurements?

Boundary's and measuring Speakers: What about this....

I was reading an article by Pat Brown (Syn-Aud-Con) on another Forum about the effects of Boundary's on different speaker types. (Look up ProSoundWeb Forum/ Tools of the Trade / "How Boundaries Affect Loudspeakers"...if anyone wants the link....I'll post it.....). He measured these speaker...

Re: Take a look at the (EQ) curves on this one!

I don't think Bose is the only one. The Soundcontractor who did the installation at our church set up my Drive rack 260 with the EQ curves that EV recommends for our EV 15's / 2" horns combined with the EV DSP (which we couldn't afford) . We SMAART'd the room and it sounded good / O.K. Then we ...
