Duratex vs. PL?
So I'm finished building my first Tuba24 - took it to a gig in the raw plywood state and it sounded AWESOME! All our dancers and musicians were very impressed. Brought it home, rounded the edges, spackled, and sanded and I'm ready to apply the Duratex. But I'm concerned about how the Duratex will st...

Re: Driver mounting questions
I would recommend not using Loctite. You are almost sure to spin the T or H nuts if you try to remove the bolts. What I do for washers is to use 1/4" nyloc nuts upside down, when using 10-24 bolts, or #10 wood screws. It works nice, you wouldn't have to touch the paper gasket. I can take some ...

Driver mounting questions
I hope these aren't really dumb questions. I did a few searches and couldn't find the answers. (And I'm spending enough time and money on this project that I want to be sure to get it right the first time!) I'm building a pair of Tuba24s with BP102s. The instructions suggest 3/16" bolts and T-N...

That sounds like amp noise, which you wouldn't hear through headphones. They go through a little tiny amp. Full power would blow your eardrums. Plug in another speaker and listen. That was it - Thanks, Tim! I disconnected the drivers, plugged in a known good speaker and listened for a while. No noi...

Odd noises during break in?
I just received a pair of BP102s for a set of Tuba24s I'm going to build. I have them hooked up in parallel, out of phase, and I'm playing a 31.5Hz sine wave, at about 3.5V, through them to break them in. I've seen a recommendation that people run a level more like 10V, but I'm worried... You see, I...

Re: Airtight "enough"?
Install them on the rear panel behind the lower reflector and you don't need airtight jacks. You mean down where the plans show the cutouts for the hand grip and the casters? But that's much too obvious! I never would have thought of that! Thanks to everyone who replied so quickly. This was ...

Airtight "enough"?
I get the impression that there is a sort of sliding scale of "airtight-ness." I understand, for instance, that you want to be damn sure the driver chamber on a Tuba is absolutely airtight, or you're likely to end up with a blown driver. But I have the impression that as you move farther o...
