Alternative for BB?

Got an email from my local supplier (Phoenix AZ) about Birch "Super Core". Supposed to be much like BB, all hardwood core with same layer count, but a lot cheaper. Anyone ever use it or anything like it? https://www.woodworkerssource.com/plywood-sheet-goods/premium-white-birch/12-supercore...

Re: 4x T48 and 4x OT12 build

Got to have the kids visit for the holidays. The new PA build is "son approved"! 8) https://youtu.be/SPenApkNw-4 I also ran a couple of shows over the holiday. Smaller venue, wasn't the whole rig. Had many compliments on how good these things sound. Including some local talent that knows w...

Re: Hello from Southwest United Kingdom

When I discovered this forum I too started out wanting to build DR's. I was convinced by Bruce and others here to go with OT12's. So I just finished a build of four OT12's and loaded them with Eminence 2512's and N210T compression drivers. They sound absolutely fantastic. While I've never heard the ...

Re: Thoughts about Dayton EMM-6 mic calibration curves

Use a preset curve with a bump on the bottom, a dip in the low mids and then a gradual slope rolling off the high end. Driveracks have that curve in the system if you select it and use the RTA function on it. It's musical and makes sound check much easier. Ya I've found the driverack "reflecti...

Re: Thoughts about Dayton EMM-6 mic calibration curves

Thanks for the responses guys. I didn't really elaborate on my use case. I do some system tuning work with fixed installs (It's been church venues mostly) and have enjoyed doing it and getting better at it. At least I think I am. :) People seem to be happy with my work. I want to expand that service...

Thoughts about Dayton EMM-6 mic calibration curves

So I just received my order of 3 Dayton EMM-6 measurement mics from Parts Express. My intention is to use them in my system calibration rig so I can roll into a venue, set up 3 mics front/middle/rear with my SMAART/OSM to quickly get traces for the near, middle and far field response in the audience...

Re: 4x T48 and 4x OT12 build

It's been a while since I updated. Been distracted with a few things but still I've been making progress. In fact, just need to drop the drivers in the last two subs and paint the grills and this build is a wrap. Then I've got a couple Simplex Wedges to build and some load in cases for the OT-12s. S...

Re: DIY snake

+1 to everything Bruce said. Only reason I can see to try and reduce the number of conductors is weight. Having spent years on a weekly load in/out with 200' of 56ch multicore I can understand that. But for all the reasons he said you're still probably best off just using what channels you want in t...

Re: 4x T48 and 4x OT12 build

Here's a thread on a way to attach 'em without drilling holes in the subs. https://billfitzmaurice.info/forum/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=17802&p=187461&hilit=v+plate#p187461 I love this Bruce! I've got a bunch of 1/4" aluminum bar cutoffs in my metal shop I can fabricate something out of...

Re: 4x T48 and 4x OT12 build

What do you all think of this for a T-48 V-Plate?

Would it matter at all if I flipped the plate over so bracing was on the bottom of it? Can't imagine it would but thought I'd ask.

Thanks!

Re: 4x T48 and 4x OT12 build

Before I start final finishing and painting I threw drivers in one of the OT12s and one sub just because I couldn't wait to hear it. 51A2E2D9-142A-4423-87FE-9EFB87D4DC82.jpeg Oh my god! I couldn't hit the limiters in my shop without ear pro on. Sounded pretty dang good without any eq. Though I did h...

Re: 4x T48 and 4x OT12 build

I ended up going with two boards. I'm confident in my wiring skills but of course Bill is right this is much simpler. I like flat mounting both coils too.
