Finally - The Right Combination of Cabs and Amps
Alright! I started building these cabs to address deficiencies in my stage sound (bass player). First came the T39, 24" wide with dual 10" BP102s. Biggest single improvement ever. Funny how when you solve one problem, other lesser problems suddenly become more noticeable. So, here I went w...

Maybe there's another way to do this, too. My bass head has a -15dB input alongside the 0dB input. I could set my rig up as normal, wherein the bass guitar signal goes through the compressor and EQ (and sometimes DI) before hitting the bass head input. Then I take the aux send from the kick and plug...

I'd not put bass and kick through the same compressor, or even through the same preamp. If you're running into a bass head of some kind, could you go out the preamp out or FX loop out, into the board, put it and the kick into the aux send returning to power in/FX in? Struggling a bit with this ... ...

Compressor Settings
Gentlemen, Recommended bass compressor settings are usually 4:1 to 6:1. I would like to pipe the kick drum in the band directly from an aux feed into my T39/4x10 bass rig for a small gig coming up. A small non-sub PA will carry the vocals and other higher-freq instruments. We're outdoors, but we are...

Carpet Finish
Hello all. I just finished my T39. I did the horn throat and braces with a spray can of duplicolor bedliner, and man was that easy! I liked the looks of the carpeted cabs people had posted pictures of, so I went against prevailing opinion and carpeted the rest of it. I discovered what I actually lik...

I asked the same question a couple of weeks ago. The answer is "not practically". The wavelength is too long from subs. See this thread: http://billfitzmaurice.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=5509

What counts is how it sounds, set it where you like it, but you have to be aware of the pitfalls of trying to get too much low end from any system when your listening position is close to the source. Perfect for you eight feet from the cab might be knocking bottles off the bar racks 50 feet away. I...

OK, it sounds like everything I am trying to do with my bass rig is wrong. Since I don't have an ear for EQing it, does the concept of RTAing the bass rig alone and using that to EQ for flat response make any sense? Once again, remember that I am not going for high volumes, just a good full on-stage...

50 boosted near full That's nuts. Every time you boost 3dB, it's like introducing double the power. So if you're boosting 12dB, well... I wrote my settings down carelessly. I checked the EQ, and it turns out the boost is only about 6 - 7 dB at 50 and 10k. The stack of cabs and amps is a little more...

A Few Thoughts On My New T39
I'm still not finished with the exterior of my T39 (24" wide, 2 BP102s), but I have been fussing with it out in the garage. I intend to use it as part of my bass rig, and though I plan to build an omnitop 12, right now the mid-highs are carried by my Eden 4x10 w/tweeter. I found an old 31 band ...

try it and let the rest of us know. I can do that! If it doesn't work, I can always sand it and do duratex on top, I guess. Edit: Of course, like Tim says, this cold weather is bumming me out. 4 inches of snow last night, and temps in the mid 20s may cause me to wait a week or two before trying to ...

Herculiner?
You guys probably groan every time some new guy asks about alternatives to duratex, but here goes -
Anyone have any experience or an opinion on herculiner bed liner material for finishing cabs? It's sold locally in smaller quantities than 1 gallon.

I won't have the drivers until late next week, anyway. So how did you fit the driver to the baffle? Without the driver on hand, there is no way to insure that the driver fits the H-nuts or T-nuts, whichever you used. Even with one side off the T39, it is still very very difficult to get them instal...
