Re: Speaker Mounting Suggestions for XF212
Have you read the plans? The drivers mount to the baffles from the front. They may be attached with either screws or bolts and T nuts. Bill, You seem to take delight in admonishing me continually for my questions. What a shame you cannot be a mentor instead of a being the captious indivi...

Speaker Mounting Suggestions for XF212
I am currently working on completing my XF212 and have a question regarding the mounting of the speakers on the baffles. There is little room around the cutout to mount the spiked 1/4-20 T-Nuts I have. The speaker mounting holes to the edge are .25"-.375"on the Fender (Eminence) speakers. ...

Re: Handle Suggestions for XF 212 Cab
Thanks for the suggestions. I ended up buying the recessed Penn-Elcon spring loaded handles and routing the side panels 3/8" deep so as to not enter the inside of the cab.
I f I knew how to post photos I would show the progress.

Re: What Size Router Bit for 1/2" Plywood Cab
I think I will order a few more Pony Clamps for the corners and strap the middle. That way I wont need any nails at all. I do have a 18 ga pneumatic brad nailer that I can shoot some 3/4" nails in if needed. The safety is removed so it do some very close work. My first speaker cab build, but I'...

Re: What Size Router Bit for 1/2" Plywood Cab
I will need to get a smaller router if I do it after assembly. My two routers are 3hp. One is in a custom router table and the other is just too large for the job. I used to have a 1 1/2 hp Craftsman. Maybe it’s on a shelf somewhere in my shop. I’d be more apt to use screws (even with ore-drilling) ...

What Size Router Bit for 1/2" Plywood Cab
It seems that the 1/2" radius router rounding bit would cut too much off the edge to provide for nailing without splitting on 1/2" plywood cabinet sides, top and bottom. I realize after curing that the glue is doing all the holding, but nailing to hold it together seems difficult with such...

Re: Handle Suggestions for XF 212 Cab
I've never built an XF, but my son and I used something similar to this on a box about 18x24x36" https://www.parts-express.com/Steel-Bar-Handle-262-821 no rattles, and lots of screw holes to anchor. I think that is too big for my cab. It might intrude into the area where the baffles are glued....

Handle Suggestions for XF 212 Cab
With the angled baffles I am a bit concerned about any decent sized recessed handles for this build. A top handle is an issue for a relatively heavy cabinet, especially if I decide to use 1x poplar. What have most used, if any, for side handles on the XF 212? Has anyone experienced any rattle/vibrat...

Re: Using Solid Wood for XF210 or XF212
I don't see any problem at all.... So......you are building a 2x12 cab and loading it with 10s, then you want to build it out of 3/4" solid wood.....hmmmm.....are you a weightlifter and this will be part of your workout? I've decided to use the 12". It'll have wheels and I don't...

Using Solid Wood for XF210 or XF212
I have an abundance of 12" Poplar board that I joined 15 years ago that is 20" wide. Joints are solid and joined properly with any warping. Is there any reason, other than a potential weight difference, that I can't use this to build my cabinet? I would still use plywood for the speaker ba...

Trying to Decide What Speakers to Use
I am in the process of building an XF 212 and have the following speakers currently in my inventory. 2x 12" Fender Eminence 8 ohm 50W 1x 12" Celesion Greenback 16 ohm 25W 1x 12" Celesion Relic 30 16 ohm 60W I also have 4x 10" Celesion G10D-25 8 ohm 25W (I would just cut the baffl...

Re: XF210 vs XF212
Ha! Hadn't thought about NB Smoker in years. I knew the guy that owned it. He just died last year. Also had a renter that worked there. You from the area? If so, you are welcome to come check out my XF210. Sorry to hear about that. Was that the owner before W.C. Bradley bought it? I have some friend...

I think you are misunderstanding the file I can't open.
I can open and print the PDF.....It WAS the *.skp file that I had a problem with.
Problem has been solved.

Re: Can't Open XF 212.skp File
The email says to download the sketchup program to view the model etc.
I have the model plans in PDF and don't need the sketchup program.
Perhaps you need that program to open the jig plans. The email does not state that.
