Re: Sealed Simplexx 12 cabs - Alternate Driver

Great idea. Thanks. What are your thoughts on mixing the exact same cab + drivers, but some ported and others not? I know the Ampeg SVT 6x10 does this. I would assume the phase relationship would be close, but still different. If it turns out I do like the drivers more than the sealed, is the idea o...

Re: Sealed Simplexx 12 cabs - Alternate Driver

Thanks Bill. If I want to stick in the same realm of sound, is the best answer more cabinets? The definition I get from the sealed cab is so overwhelmingly clearer, more articulate and efficient in regards to utilization of to the sonic real-estate of my bandmates. I assume the 3012LF is out of the ...

Sealed Simplexx 12 cabs - Alternate Driver

Over the last 5 months I've built a 3x Simplexx cabs (2x 1x12, and 1x 2x12). Going to the sealed cab has truly changed the way things sound live. I have so much more punch, definition, and I utilize far less acoustic space, making the rest of the band sound much better. I am finding other bassists a...

Sealed 1x12 Simplexx Bass Flab

I just finished a 1x12 sealed Simplexx (no tweeter) with BP122. It farts on my 4-string from the low G down to E, even with the EQs at 12'oclock, and a Broughton HPF set to 35hz. All bracing is rock solid. I am 100% certain it is air-tight, and done to spec. I have a conservative use of Polyfill on ...

Re: Sealed Simplexx 1x12 Speaker Selection - 3012LF or PB112

Very helpful - I forgot to re-check your specs regarding QTS - thank you. It is too bad the Eminence specs list the 3012lf as an eligible candidate for sealed enclosures. Truly grateful for your advice.

How do you feel about the BP112 in a 1x12 Sealed Simplexx?

Sealed Simplexx 1x12 Speaker Selection - 3012LF or PB112

I have recently made a Sealed Simplexx 2x12 (tweeters eliminated) with Eminence BP122 Speakers (2x 8ohm - wired for 4 ohms). Sounds very good, I'm impressed: Very articulate, and remarkably even. For smaller gigs and practicing I'm going to build the Simplexx 1x12 sealed with no tweeter, and am cons...

Re: Simplex - eliminate handle - Impact on internal volume

Simplex 2x12 sealed cabinet. This design has 4x flush-mounted handles, which may add up to some internal volume.

Simplex 2x12 Sealed - eliminate handle - Impact on internal volume

If I omit the 4x flush-mounted handles in the design, to go with surface-mounted handles (aka old-school Fender), will there be negative impact on the internal volume and/or performance? Any concerns?

Simplex Back Panel - Why is it not under top?

Hi Bill & Gang, I'm about to build a sealed 2x12 Simplex cab. I see the back panel is not the same size as the front panel, and it does not traditionally sit underneath the top. Typically the top would sit on top of all four sides, for structural redundancy. I understand the PL Premium in the sp...
