Electric Guitar..again(sorry) JAck 210 or xf210-coax, or???

#1 Post by monkjunior »

Hi all
ok so read the other posts ie (guitar monitor) etc and am not sure there was a definite answer seem to be a lot of back and forth...
I have an amp modellor (fractal audio axe-fx) and am looking for a full range solution... those not familiar with the axefx its now being used by some big names and without typical guitar cabs etc ie(dweezil Zappa,)

anyway the modelling an impuse response in these things is insane, you only have to hear some of the direct recordings to understand...
my live rig has this running direct to house, with my stage monitoring done via a 2-12 cab with emi private jacks in (run with amps sims but without cabinet simulations so my onstage colouration is from the cabinet but my house sound colourartion is all done from the axefx..make sense...???

so am wondering what is best a jack 210 with full meld array, or an xf 210 with the emi coaxs... or something else maybe, ... w10???

thanks
dave

My vote is for the Jack (since the XF is for the replacement and colouration of a conventional guitar cab but with better distribution).

That's kinda what's I was thinking to,o I guess my thought with the xf would maybe be to drop some emi beta 10cx's Coaxials in it as a full range solution which would then drop the colouration back to the modellor, but obviously efficiency etc wouldn't be like having a Jack or something else similar

It depends on the modeler. If it's voiced to sound best run through a guitar amp, XF. If it's voiced to sound best direct through PA, Jack.

I just posted my results to the "electric guitar monitor" thread. My Jack 110 works great. +1 to Bill's advice. Not familiar with your modeler; mine has a line/amp switch, and sounds great direct when set to line.
