PL Turbo, where to buy?
PL Turbo, where to buy?
I have called and visited many local home improvement centers and hardware stores, and no one has heard of PL Turbo. Where do you guys get it from?

It's called PL Premium. I get mine from Home Depot.maxmercy wrote:no one has heard of PL Turbo. Where do you guys get it from?

Are you sure that's what JJS is looking for? IIRC, the turbo version cures so quickly you can hold parts together manually until it sets. Recommended for construction of the SLA curved baffle I think.

Exactly, the 3 minute stuff, and I do need it for the SLA curved baffle. I have the PL premium; easy to find, and great price point...AntonZ wrote:Are you sure that's what JJS is looking for? Re: PL Turbo, where to buy?
One of my clients is the PL sales rep, and I got some PL Turbo from him.
This stuff sets up FAST.
You have about 60 seconds to get your piece in place, then hold for 3 minutes and you are done.
If you are gluing large pieces, or are just plain slow, Turbo is not for you.
I don't think it has the strength of regular PL, but have not tested that.
It's probably ideal for small bracing needs. Comes in a tiny tube, like model airplane glue. This probably makes it very pricey for large projects.

My biggest worry is that when I'm dead and gone, my wife will sell my toys for what I said I paid for them.

The only application I recommend it for is gluing up the segmented baffle on the CurveArray version of the SLA.bgavin wrote:One of my clients is the PL sales rep, and I got some PL Turbo from him.

It didn't work on the vacuum hose on my shop vac.

If it's polyethylene or polypropylene nothing will glue it, the stuff's Teflon like in its resistance to adhesives.bgavin wrote:It didn't work on the vacuum hose on my shop vac.

That's an interesting way of saying you accidentaly got your PL turbo sucked up by your shop vacbgavin wrote:It didn't work on the vacuum hose on my shop vac.

Re: PL Turbo, where to buy?
Actually, the hose is splitting at the nozzle ripple and I tried PL to fix it. No go. Used tape instead.

Well, no deal at Home Depot, Sutherland's or Lowe's. I did get some quick-setting epoxy, supposed to have only a 90 second working time. Do you guys have any experience/know of any problems using a fast epoxy?
Thanks,

I've done a bit here and there with fast epoxy. You'll want to do a few test applications on scrap stock if you're not used to the stuff. and have ventilation - it stinks.maxmercy wrote:Well, no deal at Home Depot, Sutherland's or Lowe's. Usually I'll mix up a bit more than I think I need and then use a piece of scrap wood or a plastic knife to apply it. Be really careful what that stuff gets on, it's near impossible to get rid of.
