Baltic birch
Baltic birch
I've been calling some of the local lumber yards and one place has 5 x 5 sheets for 59.99. The woman on the phone "thought" it was equal thickness on-laminated. Does this sound about right to people or is it usually the 4 x 8 sheets for about that price?

Re: Baltic birch
That sounds about right to me. That's why I started using Arauco. The last quote I got a 4x8 sheet of BB was ~$85! And that was about 18 months ago...

Re: Baltic birch
I was paying $28 a sheet. Glad I stocked up...
My biggest worry is that when I'm dead and gone, my wife will sell my toys for what I said I paid for them.
Re: Baltic birch
I used to pay $26 a sheet. Recently picked up another 5X5 and it went up to $52. Only reason I bought it was I called the guy on a Saturday at home and he opened the shop for me.
Have to find something else. None of the local Lowes sell Auraco and will only order in huge quantities.

Went from $28 to $40 here. But, all bldg materials are dropping in price, almost across the board. Very little demand and lower fuel prices.

Re: Baltic birch
I have more stock in 3/8" than I do in 1/2 now. Still have several sheets of 3/4" BB that is mostly used a bit at a time for cover flanges. 3/4" is too big to use for speaker cabinets. Might use it to repair a bathroom floor...

Re: Baltic birch
The prices will come down for awhile while the economy drags, but once the inflation from all that stimulus hits, I expect the price of everything to go sky high. If you have the bread, stock up on BB when the price flattens out. It will never get cheaper unless the world falls apart.

Re: Baltic birch
I've found some 5x5 sheets of 9 Ply Baltic Birch for $38.70 a sheet. I've been shopping around and that is my best price so far, but that price is with a minimum 10 sheet purchase.
