This is my second BFM build, and it has lived up to every expectation, and exceeded many. It was primarily built as a bass guitar cab, and in that it excels. I really can't say much more than what has already been said about it here before. I also wanted it to be a half-ass mono PA for when I have people over to play some WiffleBall. Things like background music and theme music for when people come up to bat or warm up to pitch. I only have an Ipod connected to an old Crate BX-220H amp (150W into 8 ohms), and it is more than adequate in that respect as well; solid chest thump at 50 feet away, from just one cab with around 100W! To get a truly flat response, I do have to boost the 40Hz slider on the amp a bit, but not much... Of course, it's nothing that would take your breath away (I do have neighbors), but it was much louder and clearer than I expected it to be given the situation.
I got the O15TB Deluxe kit from Leland at SpeakerHardware.com. Tremendous service and support, WAY above and beyond what was expected. I originally wanted a Delta15LF for the cab, as I was not going to power it with anything other than my old Crate amp...Leland didn't have any Delta15LF drivers in stock, and lo and behold, I received a Kappalite 3015LF driver in my box when it arrived. I have said so before and will say so again...Thanks Leland!
The Deluxe kit really did have everything needed except wood, foam dampening and finish, and the hardware included is very good, no complaints here.
If you have been pondering building one of these, do it. You will not be disappointed. It replaces my old 1x15 and 2x10 stack, is MUCH lighter, and sounds better to boot. It is not that hard a build, either. A little tougher than a Table Tuba, but not by much.

What bass guitar are you using and what genre of music do you play?maxmercy wrote:.. It was primarily built as a bass guitar cab, and in that it excels. ...

1975 J-Bass reissue. Pickups are wired for switching between series and parallel. Currently I am playing with no one, school eats up way too much of my time, but used to do essentially just covers, mainly just screwing around w/ friends, not serious gigging like other folks on this forum. The O15 gets more duty as a PA than anything else... but as a bass cab, it is no slouch. Solid bottom from a single 15".
To tell the truth, I once hooked up my TT to the bass amp, and I was incredibly surprised at the amount of sound the TT can put out. It is just too awkward to carry, and has no handles...and it weighs a ton, I made it out of MDF. The O15TB is a very easy 2-person carry, and one can do so in a pinch. I haven't weighed it, but I'm guessing 60-70lbs, made from Auraco ply.
