1 inch thick urethane building insulation foam

#1 Post by Jim Van Streader »

Anybody know where to get it? Just wasted 10 bucks in gas to find out Home DePoo doesn’t carry it. Wasn’t someone mixing it in a bowl?

You could try canned PU foam, apply it into a box of some sorts to force the blurb into some kind of shape. Be aware that larger blurbs need more time to fully cure (the inside could still be soft), and I'm afraid the blurb might not be of consistent structure. Don't use a heat gun to speed up the process. I know of someone who tried. He learned from experience. What he learned was that fumes in the box are rather flammable

I still think you'd be better off with some insulation plate material. You could phone some builders? No idea what you would call anyone specialised in making and renovating roofs, but that's what I would try first.

Call other lumberyards. Hard to believe they don't have it, especially in the Southwest, as the aluminum foil outer layers are very effective against heat gain in direct sun.

Jim, if you're buying it for throat fillers you'd be much further ahead to get them pre-formed from Leland.

A+ Tim. If you consider the time involved in making them it's much cheaper to buy them from Leland. The person he has making them for him does a really nice job.

Yeah, sorry, that wasn't meant to be an advertisement, just good advice. It's not worth the trouble to make the things yourself, or the mess!

Polyisocyanurate - is this the same thing as urathane foam? It has foil on both sides but I don't know if it has the same properties and can be carved into shape. Anyone know about this stuff?

I'm sure I'll order from Leland in the future but I need this last night.

I think it's a four dollar word versus two dollar word describing the same thing.

Sydney

:ugeek:
If you change the a to an e then I agree.
Besides that, my spell-check gives me a red line if I type it.

Important fact: isocyanate when burned, gives off cyanide gas - so don't.
