Hideaway PA

My new PA for my rental business. Mostly voice and small parties.

The amp end. Hidden for protection when the cabs are coupled.

They're the 23" width with full melded arrays. I did not compensate for the lost volume to the amp, because of the extra width. I figured it was pretty close to the straight array volume.

They were set up for easy portability. The handles are offset as that's where the center of gravity was. They lift very easily individually with very good balance. I can lift both cabs pretty easily when they're connected with the strap handles. They're also built for durability, almost everything is attached with tee nuts and socket head cap screws.
Grilles are a PITA, but I figured these needed them. I didn't get a pic, but on the back with the hats is a pull out handle. They wheel around like a dolly. After I was done, the pullout is not necessary. A regular recessed handle would have worked just as well or better.

How does it sound? Very nice. Uncolored with very respectable bass response. I wouldn't be afraid to do small groups with no subs. They're loaded with some beta 10's I had left over from DR250 retrofits.

Very slick! What's the skinny on the amp/pa section ? How loud compared
to your other speakers/amps ?

Good work indeed ! :D
Cheers,
Joel

Impressive! Great looking cabs! Build cost was dirt cheap, and they'll make you money that you don't have to "be there" to earn. I like it!

The feet are Penn Elcom 1691. http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdet ... N=16857245

A customer ordered some a while back and I liked them a lot.

I did not take the cabs to war volume. Just loud enough to confirm everything was right. Seemed loud in my HT room. Not exactly a good place to drive PA cabs to the limit with SWMBO in the other room watching TV.

That was probably me. I don't usually like tall feet like that, but I needed something for my DIY rack case that would be tall enough to allow me to set it on top of my O10 without the plactic corners touching each other (since they aren't the same width).

I was afraid my case would wobble from side to side and not be real steady with those tall feet, but they've been great.

sweet! this looks very much like something I've been thinking of building. Is this the amp: (http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdet ... er=300-797)? if so, how is it sounding and holding up now that you've had it for ~ a year? thanks!

Nobody's blown it up yet, nor complained about anything with it. Held up very well.

You could play 'Bolero' at concert volume, and take your time listening to them...

My biggest worry is that when I'm dead and gone, my wife will sell my toys for what I said I paid for them.

Mono.

Pretty similar afair. Been a long time since I listened to either one at war volume.
