Omni 15TB

#1 Post by spiderbass »

I just finish my Omni 15TB some days ago. I must write a tutorial for help somes DIY guys with somes tips i find myself.

Plans are great and normaly most of people don't really need more informations, but i love write reviews of bass, effect, amplifier, make pictures, talk about DIY...

I take approximalty 200 pictures of the making of the O15TB. Actually i use this cab with a Hartke HA3500, but not the standard version because i already make somes upgrades.

You can see i love screws

For informations, the paint come from blue aran "Tuffcab". Really great finish with it.

I REALLY love this cab. It's simply the best i try. Sound is very neutral and my opinion is this cab respect all subtility of playing, and the instrument.

I add the attenuator for the tweeter and i think it's a good idea, because with somes bass, the sound is really clean. Just a little less treble is something nice. But i don't hear buzz or something else, Bill make a really nice work :-)

Bass range is very clear and deep, just perfect. The accuracy of each note is real, and no problem at all to play with a good sound at the end of the neck. For exemple it's the same thing than plug a Dingwall and hear the accuracy of a B string ! ( i really need to check with a Dingwall this setup, but it's another problem  )

Harmonic are great, chords don't sound rough, each notes just sound good. It's just like a Hi-Fi system but for bass guitar.

A five string with B string sound BIG.

For me, it's actually the best setup i tested. Just the sound of the bass and nothing else, it's not an Ampeg  But with somes preamp, i pretty sure, you can make YOUR sound.

Somes others pictures of the making i put a link, when i finish the tutorial.

Thanks Bill :D

It's a bad idea to mix colors of foam....

Just kidding, excellent work and excellent pics. I would suggest that you install some kind of grill cloth over the woofer and midrange if the cab will be transported much. Which woofer is that, and did you break it in first?

Yes Mark, i cannot play with this mix color foam inside

I aware about protection of speaker. In fact, i think next time i open the cab, i must correct that point

All speakers i take are in the plan :)

I see now it is the 3015LF, missed that before. Did you "break in" this driver? If not, you'll be even happier with the low end when it is.

I see you used Tuff Cab from Blue Aran... how did you get that stuff, since you're in France? I ask because I have problems getting the stuff to The Netherlands :?

Thanks :D

@ Mark : Have you a method to "break in" the driver. At the moment i use this cab at same volume than a Peavey microbass, but it sound very good

@ Djwoo : Yes, it's a good idea, but i prefers black. But in white, it's an Ipod "Deluxe"

@ thijs666 : In fact, i order lots of thing in various place. It's not easy to find really good filters in France for Exemple. I order all Speaker in Germany ( thomann ), filter componant in US ( must paid with paypal most of time )

For the paint, it's simple. I order with paypal 2.5 Kg and send to a friend in UK with his adress. It's more cheaper than order direclty. For exemple in my case, i pay maybe 25-26€ and i use 2/3 of the paint.
