Where do you get wire terminal blocks in the US...

#1 Post by DAVID_L_PERRY »

I have had several PM's asking what the little terminal blocks are on my filter:-
Image

They are just wire Terminal blocks, they come in strips, available at every DIY shop in the UK, I cant imagine for a second that they are not readily available at every hardware store in the US ??.

Can somebody post a link where to get them, and if they are called something all swanky and American please post the name....

Those barrier strips are common in Europe, less so in the US:
Try MCM part# 28-990 (8 position) $1.64 and 28-995 (12 position) $2.13

Nope, they are not quite the same. The terminals are exposed, and look to be in fixed lengths.

From what I can see they are noted as 'European-Style Terminal Strips'

You get them in strips over here and just cut the number of terminal you need using a blade....

Cheaper here as well......hooray...we win on price at long last...

Sometime in the past, I bought something like that at Radio Shack. I'm sure if they were the least bit popular, they dropped them from the catalog.

I checked the site it shows them in stock at all the stores here in Salt Lake City, Utah. Mine were laying around for years but I didn't get them at Rat Shack I picked them up at some electronics store can't remember which one.

I got the barrier strips for the DR200 filters at the Shack. For other projects, I have gotten the European style at Fry's.

These connector blocks are known here as chocolate blocks...no kidding.

They originally came in brown, so I guess that's why.

You can buy them in all sorts of colours (with a U ) here and there are different sizes for different amperages.

You can also buy them in bundles of 50 strips ( about 20 connectors each )

No decent sparky would be without a couple of bundles of these as well as a half dozen packs of plastic cable ties

I got them from here.

Pretty cheap at $1.99USD each, and the order lady was quite nice, and extremely helpful! 8)
