It has been done though. I'm brain farting on who did it. It was within the past few years. Ahhh! Crap. Think think think. Grrr. Come on! Brain no workie. It'll come to me.

Not recommended at all. But in the world of anything's possible, nothing's impossible. And it's DIY, so do what you want. But if you want great results, follow the plans. I know from experience that there's a strong pull to one up and make better that which is already the best... but it's a waste of thought. Follow the plans and get better results with a 12 than you'd otherwise get with a ported 18.
