Hi everyone,
I am still relatively new to Horn enclosures and will be constructing the tall version of the Auto Tuba in the near future. I have done car audio competitions for some time, built my own enclosures, built custom drivers out of blown subs ( I also own a DATS V2) and have had this obsession with Folded horn enclosures for a long time.
I have been stumped for a while on how to pull it off in a Ford ranger Extended cab until now. I don't compete anymore like I used to and it's for personal enjoyment and can finally get the loud bass I crave without extensive electrical demands and still have room to spare for my long road trips between home and work.

Welcome to the forum. I'm Seth. Although not all of us actually participated in competitions, there is a significant number of of us that got our start in car audio. The first Bill Fitzmaurice designed cab I built was a 20" wide dual eight Tall Auto Tuba that went into the Jeep Cherokee I had at the time. My plan was to build and install two cabs (four 8's total), but I was so satisfied with the first cab that I never got around to constructing the second. I think you'll be happy with the results you get, especially if your audio pallet has evolved to really appreciate incredibly smooth bass without distortion. Mine hadn't and the TAT changed my audio pallet forever.
Another option you may take into consideration is a Truck Tuba flat on it's side across the width of the cargo area. Everyone's needs are unique and some have found it preferable to take up low and wide cargo real estate instead of tall and narrow. Up to you, just another possible option.
Do you have a name you prefer I call you? Subsonicspectre is a little bit of a mouthful and I find screen names so darn impersonal. But, if that's your preference, it's still nice to have you join the conversation
Welcome.

Re: Hello from New Orleans Louisiana
My actual name is Tim, lol. I have a reason behind the username I chose. Some of those reasons are the reason I don't go to competitions very much anymore. With that aside. I think the first time I got to experience clean undistorted Bass was when I ran a pair of First Gen MTX 9515-04 subs till one ended up falling apart from the factory forgetting to torque the basket bolts holding the motor lol.
Not to mention I was only feeding them 1000watts each and I thought my dash was about to break as much as it started jumping in the low 30hz range and you didn't so much as just hear the smoothness of it it as you felt the pressure waves just punch you. I've been wanting to have that again.
The tall Auto tuba I chose because of the extra depth of the sealed chamber for an extended option on drivers and leaving room for trying to build a custom driver suitable for horn loading.

Awesome, Tim! I really hope you choose to keep us posted as this project comes together for you. I am very interested in learning a little bit about what goes into putting together a custom driver and how to manipulate construction choices to achieve desired parameters. Super interested.
You seem pretty well versed, but feel free to ask if any questions should arise along the way.
Again, welcome to the party Tim.

Thanks! This is just an example of one of my experiments that well I learned quite a bit from it's failure to perform and burned the coils out due to being overdamped.
