cleaning the adhesive off the carpet

I think I did a good job of carpetting the sub but I got some of the carpet adhesive on the carpet. Idid not know it drys white or gets hard. Is there a sullution to remove this, or does plane soap and water take this off. I didn't try it because I did not want to ruin it.

Wipe it down with a rag dampened, not soaked, with mineral spirits. Give it a good rub and it'll look beyuteeful.
