This is build with some unused 1/2" plywood I had. 5" side panels and using the Dayton Audio LS10-44 from the plans. I specifically chose the DA LS10-44 for the DVC(dual voice coil). I am using the JBL DSP4086 amplifier which is a full active 8 channel amplifier with 40 watts per channel. The 7th and 8th channel can be configured for low voltage to send a signal to a 2 channel or mono amplifier if desired but I'm going to try the 40 watts x 2 for the speaker. If that does not get me enough power I'll add the second amplifier easy enough.

Bills plans were excellent to follow and once I got started things progressed quickly. Started Saturday morning with cutting and drawing on the top and bottom panel as well as cutting to length the side panels with the angles for good fitment. By that night I had the bottom panel with all the side panels glued into place as seen in the pic. I did use some screws to temporarily hold some of the panels in place and all those were removed Sunday morning. This is good practice for the long term box to be built with Baltic Birch and stained gray. With this box going together so quickly I will probably also try one with MDF as I can get it free.

Looks good, power will be plenty. My son is rocking one off the factory sub amp in a 2012 pilot. We also chose a DVC to run at 2ohms since the factory sub is said to be 3ohms. We bought an infinity sub that was switchable 2/4. It's working fine at 2 and substantially louder than factory.

howiez - I saw your post on the other thread about utilizing the factory amp. It gave me hope that my 80 total watts would be adequate. I have all the equipment to do a dual amp install but was trying to avoid it. The DSP gives me many options. Thanks for the reply.

Finished assembling and sanded it some. I will fix the screw holes, paint the mouth and cover the rest in gray carpet after testing. Testing will include what's recommended in the plans and putting it in my daughters SUV. She has a sealed box with a 10" Rockford Fosgate. I suspect she will want to trade.

Coming down the home stretch. Looking pretty good. It does look like you may have missed a detail in the plans to inlay the driver. But, that won't change performance at all. I'm excited to hear about your impression!

I have it playing in the garage on the old home theater receiver and stand alone two channel amplifier. It started out kinda weak sounding. I let it play for 3 to 4 hours and its opening up. I assume the speaker had to loosen up some. It sounds good now. Very musical as many people say and blends easily with the 3 inch full range. I imagine it will have much more authority in the enclosed space of a small SUV.

Make sure you are near a boundary in your garage. I made the mistake of trying to set up a T48 in middle of my 1 car cinder block garage, to show my son how to setup Driverack. Couldn't figure out why there was zero bass. It's sibling was sitting 4 feet away against wall and rocking. It was just enough cancellation due to being maybe equidistant from 3 boundaries...

Truck Tuba relies on the cabin gain in a car or truck. If not for cabin gain it would have to be much larger.

WOW! So I had both channels hooked up to a two channel amp and while messing with it figured out one of the channels was not working. I wired the DVC subwoofer for a two ohm load and switched to a mono amp. With the gain at about 15% this thing rocks. Put on some Sir-Mix-a-Lot Baby got back and was floored. My wife left the couch and stuck her head in the garage and said a few choice words. I am feeling real good about the amp driving this super efficient subwoofer. Thanks again Bill and everybody else for your input and support.

Now I gotta build something else.
