Bill, could one theoretically scale down the DR series even smaller than the DR200?
We have a new 3D printer at work, and I can print about a 12" cube. I watched a YT video where someone built a desktop TL speaker with 3D printed plastic. He made it hollow walled, and filled them with plaster of Paris to deaden them. It got me thinking, I love my DR200's and would like to re-create them out of solid PVC panels or something similar for patio/garage under eave outdoor duty. Sheets of PVC in 1/2" cost more that BB, which makes no sense to me. I certainly don't need DJ/concert levels, but I'm a fan of the off axis response with melded arrays. So I'm imagining a 6" woofer in a similar cab shape, scaled down with maybe 8 tweeters melded. Then I'll hang a T18 or T24 mouth down, under my deck close to basement foundation for wall loading. Paint the outside with rubber undercoat, and put an anti spider grill on it.
Whenever I work in the yard or driveway, I end up putting my DR200's on top of my table saw, pointed out the back windows of my workshop into the driveway. It would be nice to have a permanent install. Yes, I'm a BFM snob and won't put generic waterproof speakers under my eaves LOL.

Re: DR2xx scaling
There's a thread or two floating around from years ago about a 6" loaded "DR150". IIRC, they got built and tested for home theater duty. I don't recall the outcome. I'll see if I can use my google foo to find the thread for you a little later.
Build in process - 2 WH6, one Alpha 6a loaded, one PRV Audio 6MB250-NDY loaded
Two 2x6 shorty SLA Pro's
One T39, 16", 3012LF loaded
Tall AutoTuba, 20" wide, 2x 8" MCM 55-2421
TruckTuba, 8½" wide, 2x 8" MCM 55-2421

Re: DR2xx scaling
When you scale down the size it's at the expense of low end sensitivity. IMO the DR200 is as small as is practical.
Re: DR2xx scaling
I had a feeling this might happen. If I could get near 120Hz, I'd live with it, and cover with subs.Bill Fitzmaurice wrote: ↑Sun Sep 24, 2023 3:40 pm When you scale down the size it's at the expense of low end sensitivity. IMO the DR200 is as small as is practical.
I'm also not sure Plaster of Paris is my answer.
Seth, I apologize, I didn't even think to search the forum. I figured I was the only one silly enough to think smaller...

SLA or SLA pro sounds like it would fit your needs just fine.
I got to (mostly) finish my pair of SLA Pro (4x 6") after my last band stopped due to health issues. So far the only use they have seen is background music when I work from home. I got them on poles in my upstairs "man cave". Waaaaaaay overkill but with a little EQ they sound so sweet. EQ and crossover are handled by software in the PC in my work room. Low end is my trusty old AT which does not fit the current family car and would also be gathering dust if not used in this way.
