T48 drivers

Hello folks,
First post in a while for me.
I want to start if by saying how much I've enjoyed this forum. So much useful information from knowledgeable folks.
So, to the question. I currently have 4-20 inch wide T48's loaded with 3015lf's. I'm now in the process of building 4 more.
I'm wondering if the 3015lf's are still the driver of choice? If there is something "better", should I use them instead? Would mixing drivers in the same setup be advised? Also, in keeping with the same drivers, I would be able to limit, process the same as I would also be using the same amplifiers/processing setup. Seems to make sense to stay the same. But, I wanted the expert opinions first. Thanks
BTW, amp and processing will be Crown XTi 4000 and dbx driverack pa2

20 inches wide is due to packing restrictions. I wish I could go wider.

Are you saying 2-36 wide with 1 driver will outperform 4-20 inch wide with the same driver. We are talking single driver per cab, right?

Yes, correct. But, it would be too close to hear the difference.

If 20" is your limit, it is what it is. Still a bad ass cab.

Based on that, I would get similar performance with the 2-36 inchers as with the 4-20 inch wide that I currently have. But, here's the kicker, thats 2 less drivers I would need to purchase?
I know it seems like I'm asking the same question but, I want to make sure I'm very clear before I figure out how to transport 36 inch wide cabs.

A pair of 20 inch have a maximum output of 123dB at 40 Hz. One 36 inch has a maximum output of 126dB at 40 Hz. That differential remains up to 60 Hz.

If pack/transport space allows, you could build 4 36" t48's and swap all of your existing drivers over and wouldn't need to purchase any additional drivers, amps, or cabling. And... four 36" cabs is less pack space than eight 20" cabs as well as half the number of cabs to place and stack.

If later down the line things change or you want additional versatility out of your rig, you could always buy drivers for the four 20"ers you have and give you options for different gigs/situations.

Just a thought.

It's not the same cab, but the difference inbetween my 20" wide T39's and 28" wide T39's is astounding.
So it's good advice to build wider (indeed, as wide a possible).

I don't know if you pull a trailer around, but if not, time to get a 5' x 8' and put the subs there.

I went the other way, and bought a 8 tonne pantech. There's been very few times where I've had to go up a level stacking in that with full PA and backline...
