Wedgehorn 10 with a plate amp?

#1 Post by howiez »

I have a co-worker who plays lead guitar in an 80s tribute band. He has some kind of powered monitor that runs out of steam and/or distorts. He was asking if I'd build him a monitor, so I'm looking at a Wedgehorn 10. I see the quote on the Wedgehorn page, "Two of mine are active [PE amp] and one passive". I only have experience with the BASH300 and the Dayton SPA250DSP, neither are full range IIRC. Has anyone done this with a plate amp or some type of built in? That is his only caveat. He was all for the idea with the recommended Eminence driver. He has Eminence 2x12(15?) in his main cab and likes them.

This is the one you'd need. It has plenty of power and a built in crossover and EQ.....which you'll probably need to get it sounding good.

Not sure if there is room in the WH10 to mount it though....I'll do some looking.

Yikes....I don't see anyway that you could make that work without building on a box to hold it. Not any room inside the WH10.

However, I bet you could put it in a Simplexx 12 Wedge with the coaxial speaker/horn.

Or, you try to find a smaller plate amp. You could always try the amp that's in his current wedge, but you have no idea about the built-in DSP that's been hard-coded in there.
