Stuffing the back of compression drivers

When I built my Omnitop 12, I took apart the compression drivers and noticed the chamber behind the diaphragm is uninsulated metal. I put in a small piece of foam. I can't tell whether it sounds any smoother. What do you think? Waste of time or will there be some audible results in some cases?

It may make response better, the only way to know is to measure them with and without the foam.
