end-fire sub config with T39's

Had a chance to setup my rig in a big old gymnasium and experiment with an end-fire configuration.

I used 2 pairs of T39s in a V layout and a DriveRack to delay the front pair.

I tried 3 different configurations:

FREQ, DELAY, DISTANCE
@75Hz, 3.24ms, 1.1m = 3’ 7”
@60Hz, 4.12ms, 1.4m = 4’ 7”
@50Hz, 4.85ms, 1.65m = 5’ 5”

There was a significant reduction in LF behind the cabs with all 3 configs.

I would absolutely use this at a show, as long as there was enough space in front of the stage. If the stage were high enough, adding another 4 atop these 4 should give similar results.

Interesting experiment, thanks for sharing. Did you use a meter to measure the sound levels of each configuration and at various frequencies? And what happened in front? Similar output? More? Less? I'm curious as to what situations you'd use this configuration in.

I don’t have a good meter, just an iPhone.
Levels in the front was normal, as expected for 4 cabs. I’m sure 4 V-plates would be louder, but my goal was to see if I could minimize stage volume.

We run e-drums, guitars direct with modelers, and IEMs, so it can be annoying to have lots of low end onstage.
