Titan 39 12" driver choices

I’m planning on building a pair of T39’s soon and I’ve found some alternatives to the recommended 12” drivers that I haven't seen discussed here. I don’t know much about audio brand quality so I was hoping to get some people’s opinions on them. Has anyone ever used these brands or even these specific drivers in a BFM designed sub before? How do they sound or how do you think they would sound?

Dayton PA310-8
https://www.daytonaudio.com/images/reso ... -sheet.pdf
Fs = 39 hz
Qts = 0.29
Xmax = 5mm
Vas = 91.8 L
Vd = 265.5cc

LaVoce SSF 122.50L (possibly sold @ loudspeakersplus and parts-express)
http://www.lavocespeakers.com/lavoce/as ... ER_A.a.pdf
Response curve attached as image
Fs = 41 hz
Qts = 0.43
Xmax = 11.5mm
Vas = 59.2 L (slightly low)
Vd = 609.5cc

Fane Sovereign 12-500LF (sold @ Thomann)
https://www.fane-international.com/down ... 141117.pdf
Fs = 50 hz
Qts = 0.51 (slightly high)
Xmax = 5.5mm
Vas = 66 L
Vd = 298cc

Fane Sovereign Pro 12-500 (sold @ Thomann)
https://www.fane-international.com/down ... 141117.pdf
Fs = 43 hz
Qts = 0.314
Xmax = 6mm
Vas = 107 L
Vd = 339cc

Dayton's and Fane’s SPL charts seem to indicate higher output than a Delta12-LFA from 40-100 hz. The LaVoce is higher from 40-75 hz. Someone please correct me if I’m wrong.

Data sheet charts are measured with the driver mounted in a wall. They have no bearing on what low frequency response is in a horn, or any other enclosure for that matter.

That's the only one that is close - the others don't have enough xmax to get everything you can from the cabinet.

Can you get the Eminence 3012LF? If so, use it.

Thanks for the replies! I am able to get the Eminence woofers, I just wanted to see If there were any viable options between the price of the Delta12-LFA and the 3012LF. Seems like there isn't.

I just have one more quick question about Vas measurements. If Driver A has a Vas of 100L and Driver B has a Vas of 50L, does that indicate that Driver A will prefer a "larger" enclosure while Driver B will prefer a "smaller" enclosure? Or do other measurements need to be taken into account to determine optimal enclosure volume?

Hi and welcome to the forum,

Let's put this into perspective for you.

The 3012lf has +6dB in maximum output compared to a Delta 12LFA. +6dB is the same as doubling cab count.
So, to = the 3012lf's output, you'd need to buy x 2 x 12LFA's.
That changes the price perspective right?

Thanks Grant, so in terms of output the Delta12-LFA is actually more expensive than the 3012LF.
