Well, it feels like an eternity since I last did a build thread, but here goes!

We moved house 18 months ago and I now have a garage that is big enough to swing a cat, unfortunately, it has no power. I ran a cable through the garden but due to the current climate, no electricians can come to connect it to the consumer unit and do the rest of the work.

Anyway, during those 18 months, the garage was just a mountain of unorganised stuff. Due to having plenty of time on my hands at the moment, I applied 5S (Sort, Set In order, Shine, Standardise, Sustain) and now have a space to work in.

The first job was the table saw, not used in nearly 3 years and covered in rust, I sanded, cleaned and waxed it to something respectable.
Very pleased with myself, I did some maintenance to remove the saw dust and give it a good lubrication. The motor was being stubborn to start with but finally kicked into life.

This new garage currently has no working surfaces, so a workbench was a top priority, having ordered some locking wheels, I measured the bench to be the height of my saw and made some legs.
Glued and screwed, the height looks good.
I've ordered more wood from one of the limited businesses that was open which I can hopefully collect tomorrow.

The legs on mine are built like that. Best project I ever did. I spend more time sitting at the bench soldering, building cabs, making cables, or just reading the paper......

I put power outlets on opposing corners - I highly recommend that.....

That's a nice looking table Bruce, and I had considered sockets. I just don't have many tools that are not battery. There's the belt sander, extractor, pillar drill and saws - though, I could end up getting another compressor and could just use the bench as a link.

The issue with doing that is the table saw and extractor could exceed the 13Amp limit on an extension cable.

Ok, time for a picture onslaught.

Got the legs on and it's looking ok:
Everything is nice and square:
Except for the twisted crossbeam:
Which i decided to align the leg square the the beam and twist it back:
That was good enough to make the basic table:
Add the bottoms:
Fortunately, I had enough washers to attach the wheels:
And we have a basic workbench sans top:
Then I realised it couldn't go all the way up to the table saw because of the extractor....
I also found I was out by 3mm:
This was due to an incorrect dimension on the details of the wheels (which I did verify before, but without a square edge) and the table saw is on an aftermarket trolley which isn't flat.

So, I'll probably raise and level the saw to match.

I run my saw and a fan all the time. Since I just built a collection bin with my vacumm - I haven't run it and the saw together yet....Don't think it will be a problem. Especially just cutting plywood. The saw might draw more amperage cutting thick, tough stock, but I bet it will work just fine....doesn't hurt to try.

And you'll probably find yourself using the table all the time, so power is a good thing and even if you just use it occasionally - it's an easy and cheap addition.

Nice work on the....work bench, Chris. As soon as I get some shop space, I'm building a nice rolling wood and metal table. I just realized recently that I need a roll-around toolbox that has the flat-top work space on it. Tired of dragging my heavy tool bags around the driveway.

I use a different photo host. But, it's just easier to upload them here than it is to sign in to the photo host website, upload pictures there, and then copy and paste image addresses one at a time into the body of the message... having to toggle between two websites for each photo. Could you imagine doing that 14 times? No thank you. Would rather put them in multiple posts. But, Chris was able to get 14 in one post and they appear to be hosted here.

I've never noticed that picture limit before. I'll check the settings.

I've bumped the setting to 10 and we'll see how we get on.

When adding attachments and select files you can either shift or control click to select more than one.
