Joe's T39s

Well after struggling with making a decision I finally settled on T39s to put my lab12s in. I actually started building just over a week ago on 6/17 and managed to build two cabs in that time - I plan to build two more over the summer. I also started two OTop12s which I'll post in another thread.

I was off work for a week and was very focused on completing these which is why I did not post as I went and somehow the BFM spirits :D were smiling on me because I had zero problems or questions that weren't covered in Bill's excellent plans - plus I had read pretty much every other T39/T48 build thread I could find here (thanks everybody!).

I'm not 100% done - still need to paint and install drivers but they were fully assembled in those nine days.

Day one effort - woohooo panel 1 installed! No braces are shown since I took the pic after PL was cured. All panels were screwed in place using panel screws from Leland. They seem to work quite a bit better than drywall screws.

Day 2 - Panel 2 (the baffle) takes a lot of time between cutting driver hole, driver anchor, and those little driver anchor blocks.

Day 3 was getting panel 2 and driver reducers installed. Also spent some time on the OTop12s.

Day 4 I managed to install panels 3, 4, and 5. All went smoothly. Glue, screw, and shoot some brads makes it go quick.

Also spent some more time on the OTops.

Day 5 was the install of the panel 3/5 brace. Man those things are a PITA to get in without getting PL everywhere. The glue is not noticeable in this pic since I scraped out the mess. I actually had to go back later and add more glue to the brace on one of the cabs since it was everywhere besides where it was supposed to be!

I also installed panel 6 and panel 6 extension.

Panel 6 extension was a little tricky until I figured out the right clamping configuration. Always looks easier once you figure it out.

Oh yeah - day 5 was a long day. After dinner I went out and installed the vertical and bottom horizontal flanges on the driver opening.

Figured I'd wait on gluing in the top horizontal brace until I checked the driver fit.

Day 6 I glued in the flange braces - another gooey, gluey mess but there in there solid.

Here's the obligatory photo of the beautiful internals of these babies:

Day 7 was panel 8 (the back) install.

Gluing those big panels in place is scary for some reason. I lucked out and did not have any major panel warping that was not easily corrected with screws and limited braces.

Also installed the panel 5/8 brace. Sorry - no pic.

Another obligatory photo of the pack of drivers:

Day 8 was the big panel 6/10 brace install. I just had to do the swoopy thing with them.

No picture but I did install panels 9 and 11 the previous day.

Day 9 was installing the second side on both cabs. Another scary (at least stressful) but successful install.

I'll install casters later after my wallet recovers a bit! Hope to fire these up in the next day or two and I will report back.

Well I don't have any visual proof but I fired up 1 T39 for my son tonight with my OTB15 handling the highs/midrange and T39 handling the lows and he was like "whoa... that is clean and tight...." He just came back from a week at the Electric Forest Festiva in Michigan" so he has something to compare the sound to. I was super impressed too so I'm anxious to get a couple of these V-plated and see what they can do. Watch out 4th of July!
