Finally got the chance to use them at a gig last night. I ran them with vocals, talkbox and kick drum.
Coments I got from audience members included how clear the vocals were. They said you could hear everything. These were people that had no idea I was trying out anything new. They also asked me to TURN THE VOCALS DOWN! I'm not sure that's ever happened before, and I've been doing this well over 25 years.
I had my sliders well below normal to begin with. I mix from the stage, so I did a quick "check check" and we got started. I ended up dropping them twice more during the night, to about 1/3rd where they would normally be. I can't remember the last time I saw my signal strength meters running that low!
I went out into the audience a couple of times during the evening. I was very, very satisfied at the sound quality. Warm, crisp, a ton of presence. But was really shocked me was the way they reinforced the kick drum with authority! I wasn't expecting a whole lot. Surprise! They blew me away.
Very, very satisfied. Thanks for a KILLER design Bill!
