First Build - SLA's

So this is my first build around here. These two took way longer than they should have but I bought my new house then started the build shortly after. I've probably been tinkering with them off and on for 3 months.
Would love to be able to put up the photobucket links to the hi res pictures as whacking them way down to where the forum software would accept them really took alot away from the white paint.

I used the recommended tweeters and drivers.
Will start out with the finished pictures then show a few of the build.

As soon as I saw pictures on here where someone backmounted the tweeters and drivers I loved the look and knew I had to do it.
I had a local cabinet shop spray the white

I always thought I had to have expensive tools to build something nice but all I have is a circular saw and a router (plus a few basic hand tools)

Everything mounted on baffle - little did I know at this point that I had done zero measuring to make sure I could deviate from the plans the way I wanted to.
Image

After this picture I had to make new baffles and move the drivers in about 3/8 inch and grind both sides of my shiny new goldwood tweeters.
If I had it to over I would add about an inch of width to avoid grinding things.
Although I might not like the look if it was bigger. Hmm

Ready for glue

I used a razor blade as a plane. Hardly takes any time at all to get things looking good.
Used my six year old daughters Elmer's glue from school mixed with some sawdust to fill the screw holes.

Glued together and ready for paint (along with my helper)

Doesn't like pretty inside but it works.

They look great. My SLA also took longer than anticipated. Although I used different drivers and had to redesign it. Hardest build I've done yet.

You gonna make a center channel now?

Thanks guys I really appreciate the kind remarks.

I am not very experienced at working with wood, this is really my first project that I tried to do anything nice.

Next is going to be either a THT or a TT.
I want to build a sub that will work well both for home theater duty and for the garage.

jimbo the curved SLA will probably happen when I get my bonus room fixed up - might be a while.
I do things pretty slow.

Build both! THT for inside and T18 with 1/2 size SLA for garage.

Sorry I just now saw this haven't been on in a while - been enjoying my sla's while working on projects in the garage.

Love the looks of yours!

Holy center channel though wow I didn't realize the nine driver would be so big!

I only see one woofer in that picture to go with those sla's, you might want to get another to help smooth out room modes.

Thanks, yeah nearly blew the WAF on that. But she's used to it now and loves the sound :-)

Beautiful work and a beautiful helper!

I hope the WAF works for me too, I'm hoping to do an SLA curved center with 9.
