Pop Rivets?

#1 Post by i_got_a_mohawk »

Just a quick, possibly daft question, but is it ok to use pop rivets to attatch handles and plates?

I have done lots of flightcase building over the years.

The only way I would be happy with that is if you use long rivets that pass through the timber and use a metal backing plate or washers rather than expanding into the wood. That is the way flightcase handles are attached...but why bother.. Far simpler and quicker to use wood screws.

Seems to me that Rivets would be more likely to pull free..... not a good thing.
