Baltic Birch at Menards

#1 Post by Linas »

Just a heads up, i was in menards last night and saw 1/2" 9 ply baltic birch at menards in 4x8 sheets. I live in the chicago burbs. The outer veneers seemed to be as thick as the inner veneers. Kinda pricy though at $45 bucks a sheet.

That's not too bad for 4x8. It would be high for 5x5.

A 5x5 1/2" 9ply sheet is about $28-32 in the Milwaukee area. With my experiance buying "baltic birch" from a big chain store I would never ever do it again. Don't be too shocked if you build the cab and it starts to de-laminate :x At 45 for a 4x8 sheet though it better be some quality stuff :) That would kick ass to have that at menards because all I can find is the 5x5 sheets, the only place that has 4x8 sheets of it where I live is alpine plywood and they don't want to deal with you unless you buy a whole skid of the stuff  Maybe that would give me a a reasonable explaination to give my wife for building like 10 t-48's and 12 more 250's

It's got something to do with a toll booth at the equator.
