At it again!! Night club number 2 sporting a BFM rig!

#1 Post by hifibob »

Hey guys its been a while but Im back at again.. My next project is on its way and will include DR280's with compression drivers and possibly a big ol stack of T48's or tubas.. This time around I decided to work smarter not harder and finally purchased a 5x10 cnc router to help expedite this buildout.. So far I've only inputted the cultist into Vcarve and sliced up my first prototype DR.. Needless to say I got a lot DR280 jigs I don't need anymore :hyper:

Watching that CNC in action, when I already know what it takes to do them by hand, just about reduces one to tears.
Lucky I had a teaspoon of cement this morning.

edit:
BTW, how many cabs are you building this time???

A 5x10. :broke:

Going into full bore production work? That's a pretty serious machine. Which one?
If it's too loud, you're even older than me! Like me.

In on another epic build thread.

I also have access to a 5x10 CNC router at my school's woodworking shop. I've never used it, but it looks like I'll have to try my hand at some DRs. Sweet machine.

I hear ya Grant it does take some of the fun out building but with so many more to do I had to speed up the process.. The new venue will have 2 rooms of sound, I'm working on the smaller one first which will have 8 DR280 and poss 8 T48.. Ive been wanting to give the titan a try so I'll build a few and compare them to the tuba..

I have thought about it Leland.. Having my first club has become a poster child for BFM and I've been approached by numerous other venues to build their sound systems. The most recent wants me to build 12 lab horns and I'm talking him out of it lol.. I directed him to this forum and told him to purchase his plans if he changes his mind :loler:

The machine I bought was from a local company to me called Industrial CNC.. I wanted my first machine to come from local so I can bug them when needed.. I do plan to buy a few more in the coming months since I'm about to expand my shop, one will be a cnc laser/plasma though..

hi bass monster.. having access to one is awesome.. although you still need to design the parts which is a slight learning curve.. thats pretty sweet they'll let you use it..

Today all I really got done was putting the various angles on all the parts and making a few tweaks to the cnc program to make assembly faster and easier..

I made some progress today and finished up my prototype and cut my first one up... fits like a glove! I cut up all the wood for 8 Dr280's in 3.5 hours :hyper: i added a few extras to help speedup the assembly..

1 piece sheath brace and 1 piece compression drive module back..

I also curved the front opposite of my last build

and programmed in all the screw holes for everything..

You're killing me now, Bob, with your fancy shmancy CNC contraption and all. I keep telling my wife our next vacation needs to be to your other night club, so one day I WILL BE THERE! or not... if the department of war and finance shoots me down. But still, I think I can speak for us all when I say: "I am in awe of your system(s) and build(s). Keep up the pics!"
2 THTs, 2 TLAH, SLA curved, 1 8-AT, 1 AT JBL 1002D, 4 Otop12s, Jack 12, TT with Eminence 10", 2 SLAs, 1 T30 slim, 2 T30s (2-10" each), SLA Pros, TrT.
