Router help needed

#1 Post by scornil01 »

Hello all,

I've never used a router and really didn't know much about it. Luckily I was given this router today and I can't find a bit to fit on it. I tried both 1/4" - too small 1/2"-too big

Problem is there is no brand model number anywhere in the router to identify it.

Took took some measurements of the holes, Collet and nut. They range between 5/16-3/8
Couldn't find anything with 3/8" in the store related to routers. Even took it with me to lowes and Home Depot, no luck.

I did find some stuff on eBay and Amazon but wanted to check in with you guys before I purchase online and possibly waste money on incorrect equipment

Any advise on getting this thing going? Or any body have any experience on routers that are not 1/4" or 1/2"?

Thanks in advance guys. Here are some pictures. Any help or advise will be great help.

There are 3/8 collet bits. You'll have to go to the specialty bit mfgs on the web. I'd see if you can replace the collet.
If it's too loud, you're even older than me! Like me.

My guess would actually be 8 mm. It's a common router shank size here in the civilized world. :slap:

5/16" is 7.9375 mm
In build order:
O12 with no tweeter.
3 x WedgeHorns.
2 x Jack 10 without tweeters.
2 x DR250.
2 x 16" T39
1 x Tuba 24
2 x SLA Pro (sort of...)
