Terrible shot...

#1 Post by jswingchun »

I am building Jack 12 Lites and I think that for every nail that hits I have two that miss. I miss a lot on 1/2" ply too (not that ratio though) so I think I'm just a terrible shot with my brad nailer.

Thankfully most of the brads have popped out into the inside of the cabinet where nobody can see them.

I'm not complaining, just sharing.

Omni 10
Omni 10.5
OmniTop 12 x 4
Wedgehorn 8 x 3
XF212
T39 @ 18" x 2
T39 @ 20" x 2
T39 @ 28" x 2
Jack 110 x 5
Jack Lite 12
XF210
XF210 (Slant only, no crossfire)

It's simple... Aim to miss and then your ratio would be 2 hits to 1 miss. That's doubling your accuracy

Try rotating the nailer 90 degrees whenever possible. It's quite difficult to get the angle correct by moving the gun back and forth, but sideways it's a lot easier. The nails are also stiffer in that direction, so they'll be less prone to bend and come out through the surface.
In build order:
O12 with no tweeter.
3 x WedgeHorns.
2 x Jack 10 without tweeters.
2 x DR250.
2 x 16" T39
1 x Tuba 24
2 x SLA Pro (sort of...)

The nail probably comes out of the head where you don't expect it, if your gun supports staples, the nails actually come out to the side.
Built:
6xDR200, 2xT39, 2xT48, 2xJack110, 1xOmni10.5, 1xAutotuba, 1xT18, 1xSLA Pro, 1xW8, 1xW10

This

Mine comes out the bottom left. I marked it with paint so I won't forget. Also hold it so the top and hose side are in line with the width. Making a pencil line helps a lot too.
BFM builds:
XF212
T24 BP102 24"
2x SLA's 6-5" mids, 9- gt-302's
2x AT 14" MCM 55-2421
TrT 5" MCM 55-2421
AT 18" JBL GTO804
2x OT12 flat array
2x SLA Pro 2-Alpha 6's 2-Goldwoods
2x T39 24" 3012lf
Simplex 10 BP102

Yeah, I learnt that one on my first ever go with one :) Firing blind into a big sheet of ply ain't easy, and it's too late to turn back once it's covered in PL!! :wall:

Another trick is to angle the gun towards the inside of the cab, so if it does miss it does so where it doesn't matter.
