Looking for a rack MP3 player

#1 Post by Chris_Allen »

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a rack mounted unit that is capable of playing MP3's, preferably from an SD card/USB. It also needs to have a mic input and appropriate level mixer. Bonuses would be remote to change/pause/start tracks and a mixable input from an external music player such as ipod/iphone etc.

I've found the Gemini CDMP-1400 and Img stageline 130Mix that almost fit the bill. The Numark iCDMix3 would work but is in the wrong format and has lots of things that I don't need.

Thanks.

My experiences with Gemini is that it's junky stuff, and you'll be replacing it soon after putting it into service.

Have you seen this? http://tascam.com/product/cd-200sb/

Have you looked for a HT karaoke style DVD player?

Many DVD players these days have a USB port on the front for MP3's/thumb/flash drives (and come with a remote), but you would want the karaoke style for a Mic input.

I have been using DVD players to play CD's and MP3's for a long time now (they are heaps cheaper than CD players) and since they cost so little, I always figured if they get trashed, you can go and get a new one for peanuts.
I haven't had one ounce of a problem with a very budget model in an install, and it's been used every evening for the last 6 months.

I've put rack ears on mine. A couple of pieces of right angle aluminium, a drill, and a rattle tin of black paint....

WH8: x 6 with melded array wired series/parallel.
Bunter's Audio and Lighting "like"s would be most appreciated...

The mic input is for a radio mic as it is intended to be used for Zumba classes.

I really just want one DSP amp and one rack player and that being the complete rig. She needs to play a sequence of tracks and be able talk/describe and motivate over the top. I didn't want the complexity further than a few volume knobs, mixer knobs and play/pause/stop buttons.

I had a look at the Tascam and it looks like a nice piece of kit but there is no mic input.

Ah, I get you now.

That looks like a great suggestion - I'll go hunting.
