Alternative to duct tape?

#1 Post by scornil01 »

Hello everyone.

Just wanted to know if anyone has any tips on how they cover wires on the floor during gigs to avoid guests tripping.

I've always just used duct tape to just tape them to the ground, but last night I had a run a 50' cable from my booth to the speaker. I try tucking the wire behind tables and corners etc but of course there are places I had to tape down or use a floor wire cover.

The biggest downside to me of using duct tape is that I have to clean up all the residue left from the tape.

Just wanted to know if anyone else out there have some cool alternatives to using duct tape and expensive floor covers.

Another option is gaffer tape. Doesn't leave a mess, but it more expensive.

I've tried those in my day job office. They took a couple weeks to "unroll" enough to lay flat...and I still had to tape them down the the carpet.

+1 on Gaffers Tape. Nothing else will EVER touch my cables.

He was talking about an indoor show. Might be a little big and distracting for just a single speaker cable.
